🧵 What is the minimum viable practice of functional analysis? — A brief primer from Knudsen (2010), with help from Claude... 1. What problem does this phenomenon, process, or finding solve? 2. What other phenomena solve this problem? 3. What new problem(s) emerge?
Nice perspective. Benefits(?) depends on the phase of work — "Accelerating the discretionary phase unambiguously increases [thoroughness in project dev.-ing], because it increases the real value of discretionary development more than it increases the opportunity cost of the researcher’s time"
rebounded from the LX3 issue with some Sigma DP1s/DP2x sample RAW edits today and oh my god I definitely get why people go through the trouble of shooting these cameras
Update: The LX3's aperture is stuck, just sent the message to the seller on my next steps 😭 Was lowk gaslighting myself thinking I just had a soft copy but diffraction was beating my ass instead
Lumix LX3 finally came in the mail! Ordered it from China so the 2 week delivery time was brutal (but on the faster end apparently 🤭). Editing the RAW files is a delicious challenge. They don't have as much dynamic range as the GF2 files. But the color science is on-point.
a little over 2 weeks back home and I lowkirkuinely feel like I'm turning to mush
Early June 2026 — Not really academic but just had to post. I had the honor of taking my friend's grad photos. I'm not a professional at all but we got 7, 8 really solid, print-worthy shots (IMHO)
Late April 2026 — Presented preliminary findings with my labmate, Emily, at San Jose State University's SPARC, and UC Santa Cruz's Psi Chi Symposium. We covered strength through adversity, a stepping stone to later analysis under the Positive Youth Development framework.
scraped outta here with an estimated 85% in a sea of A's these past 2 years. idgaf this busywork class was damn well worth it for the lectures alone
Insane implication that sophisticated theory of mind is mostly innate and forms the core of the phenomenological world model. Can't tell if my Twitter mutual is a genius or out of touch with the literature or both lmfao
checked out an EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM from McHenry Library and holy shit I want my own macro lens (again)
