Hair systems in Blender are absolutely wild. This is a plugin called Hair Tool, and I'm just starting to get the hang of it. It feels super complicated at first, but the idea of really digging deep and making super custom assets for characters is really interesting.

Slowly making progress on 3D stuff with Godot engine. Today's experiment involved staging elements to go in different rooms. Kind of janky, but I learned some new things today. There, uh, were supposed to be walls, but that part didn't work with the Blender export! 😅

Our beagle boy is still with us. It's been six months from his initial cancer diagnosis, and we're grateful for every extra day we have with him. Toby is still full of energy and attitude. He has managed to outlive initial expectations, but his condition could change at any time.

Progress! Still a lot to figure out, but making clothes is slowly getting easier. Next major challenge is making sure the clothing doesn't break during body deformation. After that, I'll make sure everything is set up for the character, and plug him into Godot!

I’m writing a desktop music player as part of my Computer Science Class / as an open source thing for my own education. I’ve wisely named it Boomer. It looks like poop and doesn't actually play music yet, but I'm learning a lot. Check out the repo here: codeberg.org/deadsuperher...

A desktop music player written in Java Swing. It's very ugly, but it has player buttons, and a table showing track values for Name, Artist, Album, Genre, and Year. The application is called Boomer.

What's kind of crazy is that the level of algebra problems I have to solve now look like the picture below. At the beginning of the semester, I would've thrown up my hands and quit. I feel really proud of myself. A lot of it looks harder than it really is.

$Notebook with a homework equation on it. It's an equation requiring use of the quadratic formula, with the goal of figuring out what X is. 18x⅔ = -55x⅓ + 28 You have to rearrange the equation to equal zero, then plug a formula, simplify the fractions, then convert it back into the terms of the original variables. Because these variables are ⅓ in a factored equation, we just cube both sides, then make sure the answer cannot be simplified further. Two answers work for x here: 64/729, and -343/8.$

Working on a #design study for @wedistribute.org branding and visual language. It’s just a rough draft for now, but it’s fun to think about and sketch out ideas. I’m a total hobbyist / amateur when it comes to this stuff, but it feels really cool to finally put some kind of foundation down.

Text: "For better or worse, article thumbnails are all over the place. I think it's largely a positive thing, as the act of creating them is often inside a sandbox of experimental procedures. They're memorable, eye-catching, and evoke curiosity.

One downside here is that some thumbnails (not included) are either very simple image edits, or simple stock images when there isn't time to make something more elaborate. On a one-off basis, this isn't so bad, but I think the stuff above is way more interesting."
