Sunday shop session! We introduced our new junior devs to the XRP. This is our first off-season using them to teach the basics of programming, and it's been a great experience so far. 🤖 🦾 #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
During last night's shop session, the Dev team worked on tuning PID parameters for the fuel-scoring subsystems. We took numerous slow-motion videos to assess fuel trajectories after making code changes. #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring 🤖🦾
Off-season, back in the shop. The graduating members gave the junior devs an overview of this year's robot code, even explaining why some "test"-prefixed functions are actually used in competition 😃 🤖 🦾 #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
Picked up these two over the weekend. I'm totally loving this series. #MaulShadowLord #StarWars
Volunteered as a judge at the Contra Costa district event this weekend—really enjoyed speaking with teams about the technical aspects of their robots. Proud of our team for making it to the playoffs as the 7th alliance captain! 🤖🦾⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
My moustache is outta control 😂. Drive practice took a turn that will have the hardware team busy next practice session. #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring 🤖🦾⚙️
Over the weekend, the team competed at the Sacramento District event, where they made it to the playoffs as part of the 7th alliance. As a judge at the event, I enjoyed hearing teams describe both the technical aspects of their robots and the social impact of their teams. 🤖 🦾 ⚙️ #mentoring
Yesterday evening, the team worked on autonomous development at the Davis facility, targeting two scoring cycles within the allotted time. 🤖🦾⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
A few weeks before our first competition, the drive and dev teams rolled down to the Davis facility for drive practice and autonomous development. 🤖🦾⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
Week 1 of competition season. The dev team started using interpolating tree maps to improve scoring functionality. 🤖 🦾 ⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
Comp Week Zero kicked off at the Citrus Circuits Invitational! Our drive team put this year’s robot, Occipital Lobe, through its paces and got some awesome reps on the field. 🤖 🦾 ⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
We kicked off Week 6 of build season with major progress. The mechanical team finalized enough of the robot for the dev team to set motor IDs, configure the drivetrain, and begin testing the fuel-scoring subsystems. 🤖 🦾 ⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
Week 4 of build season. The dev team worked through challenges with AprilTag groups for the auto-rotation command and kicked off setup of the Elastic dashboard, while the mechanical team continued robot assembly. 🤖🦾⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
The dev team testing out getting over the bump. 🤖 🦾 ⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
Week 3 of build season. The mech team continued manufacturing and assembling competition robot parts, while the dev team began learning command-based programming and planning the necessary Xbox controller commands. 🤖🦾⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
The dev team demoed version 1 of the AprilTag alignment command. 🤖🦾⚙️ #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring
Week 2 of build season focused on building field game pieces, assembling drivetrain modules, testing prototypes, and refining CAD projects. #FRCTeam5458 #mentoring 🤖 🦾 ⚙️
