A couple of days in Gloucester, celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary. Yesterday, Berkeley Castle and then we dropped into Painswick, home of a few ancestors. What a beautiful village! I will need to visit properly, in the future.

Forty years ago, friends proudly presented us with this bowl with the words, "If you get divorced, you can always smash it." Haven't done so yet... 👍🏻😁

I've been working with DNA matches in the shade all week, so this morning I'm having a change by visiting Devon's answer to Baden Baden, Tavistock. Will no doubt resume research, later today.

I'm feeling smug today, after a trip to the Pinetum Gardens near St Austell and a great lunch at the Harbour Hotel in Fowey. Perfect weather for it and without needing a cruise ship to get us there.

Back from a lovely holiday, plus visits to friends and family. We got home yesterday evening and at nine o'clock this morning, the tree surgeon arrived to remove a dangerously damaged conifer and its twin. Never a dull moment!

Every morning, Rob and I have a posh coffee indoors. It's the springboard to more gardening, genealogy, robotics or whatever. Too hot for gardening and I'm fed up with hiding in a room with the sunblinds down, so coffee in the garden, in the shade. ☕😊

Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you, Big Bertha. My husband inherited her from his father, who was a plumber. I'm aware of not having posted much lately. Too much else to think about, but all is very well, I'm pleased to say.

My husband & I passed through Weymouth today.Walking from the car park, I didn't recognise the place for 20 minutes. Time enough to recall that I was last here 34 years ago, when I was 4 months pregnant. Yes, with the baby who now has 2 degrees, is on her second career and got married this month. 😁

And now we're home, we have proof that it wasn't all just a dream...🥰🥰🥰 I will need to record the names of the flowers used, as best I can. The white stocks smell wonderful.

Flowers from my daughter's wedding yesterday, plus a small basket used by my granddaughter to sprinkle rose petals at the start of the ceremony.

Just on my way home from my big brother's surprise 75th birthday lunch party. Lots of family there, young and old. "I'm the patriarch now," he told us. Next big get-together for many of us will be my daughter's wedding in a few weeks.

After an overnight stay in Aldgate, London, have had a nice walk in the City, including a few places certain ancestors would have frequented. We hope to visit Tower Bridge and the Tower of London properly, one day.

Another silver shoes day, today: my daughter's hen party. Still haven't got used to the trend of mother's and future mums in law attending them. Will try to strike a balance between raucous fun and inhibiting the younger hens. 😁

It's been a silver shoes day: shopping for my mother-of-the-bride outfit. Two dresses on the shortlist from about a dozen tried on and I have had a ball. The bride-to-be was an excellent co-shopper. 😊

Too frosty a day for gardening, so I redeployed sourdough left over from 🌲 to update a family recipe for cheese pudding. Extremely well received by my other half, I'm pleased to say. 👍🏻😊
