A searcher. An Ishmael Type. A New Wave Snob. Ugly guy. My life's a vain pursuit of meaningless miles.
Taking a break from pop and rock music. Listened to Sorcerer by Miles Davis (Quintet II). Good stuff. Very relaxing. I really love the piece "Vonetta", I find it indescribably moving
Taking a break from big albums to listen to an album that is just a collection of singles. Baby It's You by The Shirelles. For One Battle After Another, John Sayles's film and The Wanderers. The singles are great and 1-2 really good album cuts. Was a fun time.
Ummagumma: Live half is a lot of fun. Careful With That Axe, Eugene is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, always down to listen to it. Studio half is good, not great, sequenced right. Granchester Meadows and Narrow Way Pt 3 are pockets of excellence to keep tidy proceedings
Cristina Raines is so pretty, I wish she would pour a glass of chilled vodka on my head
One of those days where all you can do is daydream about getting passive/under the table income and a visa to bum around in Italy forever
Reasonable people: Robert Altman's genius as a director is how he can engineer social chaos and convey emotion with a single pan Me: Altman is a genius because he saw this frame of old and greasy people and slid a random incongruously hot girl in the middle
LICORICE PIZZA, which was already an all-time favorite movie of mine, maybe the number one, hits stratospheric, greatest artwork ever, heights when you're adrift, chasing different shitty jobs, and have a crush on a woman 10+ years older than you.
Following along to this album with the English translations of the lyrics is really something
Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow should star in an entire movie together, this is from GOLDMEMBER is top 3 kissing form of Tom Cruise's career
They're kicking my ass, pantsing me, and calling me names, saying I should go back to preschool. Now watching:
I feel like I've gone insane. I spent the last 2 hours, listening to Lulu, reading wikipedia summaries of Wedekind plays, and combing over the lyrics
Joy from Mad Men “The Jet Set” is evidence the best thing you can do on film/tv is put a hot girl in a body of water
This is peak physical form. Eating disorder conquered. I aspire to feel this comfortable in my body. Expansive and actually bald with a give no fucks attitude
Funny detail in hindsight is that the 006 agent who sits next to Sean Connery in THUNDERBALL kind of looks he could be played by Sean Bean
They should call him Tom Tom Cruise because you want to bang a jazz solo on those cheeks
This why even though YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE has nonsensical plotting, it's a blast to watch
Accidentally funny lines in forgotten 1960s studio comedies I’LL TAKE SWEDEN (1965) “This sauce makes me a little gay”
Now watching with my folks, the greatest pop cinema achievement of the 21st century:
Me when someone makes a joke about how they were 8 years old and saw MAX KEEBLER'S BIG MOVE projected on 35mm.
You can tell the 1960s was a time of enlightenment in the American soul because for the technicolor Munsters movie they made Marilyn a strawberry blonde instead of a platinum blonde. Wisdom of the soul
LOULOU (1980). Great looking movie. Two cinematographers on this one. One unified vision
Crazy how every man on film sky can be matched with one of the Felix Leiters Also opening the floor for the de facto Felix Leiters: William Holden in CASINO ROYALE '67 and Joe Don Baker in the Brosnan films
