Erasmus, Critiques the cycle of mediocrity perpetuated by shallow pride and flattery. He suggests those who lack substance inflate their egos with arrogance. To sustain their self-image, they surround themselves with enablers who praise them, creating an echo chamber of validation.
Quote from 1984 shows the manipulation of history as a tool for control. Erasing records, those in power can rewrite reality to suit their agenda. It warns against complacency against propaganda/censorship & deliberate alteration of historical facts.
Billionaires preach the idea that a college education isn’t necessary while ensuring their children benefit from elite schooling and exclusive networks. This hypocrisy maintains their privilege while diminishing societal value for education as a tool for mobility.
Sadly depressing when something from the late 1800's is still relevant today. Almost as if the working class need representation & protection from a rich elite. Or am i just paranoid.
