I wish I’d gotten these way sooner. The right knee is still only at 60% since ??? happened to it a month ago. This at least got me back into the gym. Got one for the left knee too after having surgery a few years back, would like to avoid a repeat issue.
Felt good to be working on the race car again. Fluids, front brakes and hubs, plus some cleanup. Mid-Ohio is in two weeks! Also got the truck’s transmission lever cable changed out. It’s back to 100% too, until it decides otherwise.
The old man has returned to his favorite sunning spot, quick to forget the annual checkup vet visit this morning.
Sunday was the earliest morning. Started with Thunder Road Ignition, grabbed a quick lunch on the way to the first OFFICIAL Gen Con furry meetup. Solid attendance! Wish we could have stayed for the full hour but had to run to the opposite side of the con to make our Star Wars TTRPG game on time.
The hours afterwards were spent browsing the vendor hall much slower than usual, bought games, pics taken with suiters, and watched the gaming hall ceiling leak like a fountain while it stormed. I made a point to check out Neon Odyssey, VERY excited about it, absolutely my aesthetic.
Friday we started our day in the stadium playing Elementary, another cute game about being a monster in school, making monster friends by bribing them with food. In the evening, we hit up the BGG Hot Games Room to chill and play whatever. My favorite of the evening was Magical Athlete, stupid fun.
Recap! Gen Con was an awesome time. Thursday, we started with Mountain Goats Legacy. A cute lightweight game to kick things off. We picked up a copy for ourselves. We ended the day with a custom Pokemon-based board game that was a big let down, sadly. Nothing D&D-ish about it like advertised.
Childhood dream fulfilled. Finally got to play (and won) a game of Crossfire.
Day 2 of Gen Con! Yesterday was a good day. Getting TO the convention was a dumb experience that I would not like to relive with the construction traffic. This morning’s route was much better.
In the midst of moving things around, I rediscovered this old Tamiya kit of the RE-20 Turbo. It was my dad’s, he never got to assemble it before he passed. I’ve been hanging onto it thinking I’ll eventually find the time to do it justice… It carries a heavy mental weight and I don’t know if I can.
This storm really gets in the way of packing for the race weekend. At least everything is ready!
Busy evening finishing the last bit of car prep before this weekend at Gingerman. Finally cleaned off the Mid-O mud off the car and 12 wheels.
Repairs are wrapped up, time to get the setup done. Setup is starting from zero, so here we go…
Piece of cake. Should have new front hubs and remaining misc parts tomorrow to get suspension work wrapped up.
Finishing up work for today. This should suffice for the next event, but I definitely need to replace it. (Now vs before). Now just waiting for parts to arrive.
Not all bag things today though. Got the damaged wheels changed out this morning while flipping tires and getting a second set of stickers mounted. Going into Gingerman ready to win.
Teardown day. Front suspension appears to have been saved from major impact, just the wheel and hub need replaced. The rear is similar; wheel and hub are to be replaced. Lower outer control arm bolt was bent, need to check the arm next.
Sigh… I would have been okay if I’d made it through the weekend with just middle-of-the-road performance, but Race 3’s surprise rain and the clusterf*ck that ensued really ruined the whole weekend. Slid into a fellow SM competitor, instructor, and friend at the start and ruined both of our races.
Got the car setup done yesterday. Just dropped it off to get dyno tuned, which I’ve never had done strangely enough. Will pick it up Thursday on the way to Mid-Ohio.
If I could get the butterfly off the shaft, then I could pull it out and tell. I can tell one is there… I need to adjust my throttle pedal stop so I’m not putting so much torque into it at WOT.
Tonight’s project is cleaning up this new throttle body to install on the racecar. Side project will be figuring out why the current butterfly shaft has a ridiculous amount of play.
Waiting to pick up the X3 from getting recall work done. There are these two massive Alpina XB7 units just chillin’ in the showroom.
