Text reads: This essay includes a political repertoire for thought and action rooted in Black feminism that I call a politics of futurity. It consists of four parts: purpose, strategy, tactics, and goal. The first builds on the politics of care that I developed in Reckoning. The second adapts and extends Saidiya Hartman's method of critical fabulation augmented by a notion of political fabrication. The third suggests tactics derived from the folkloric character of the Trickster. And the fourth forwards the goal of democratic redesign and reconstruction, which we can think of as worldbuilding.

They called every couple of days since late March to try to catch me for the survey. I was curious so I took the call today. The carrier has apparently certified the number so I don’t think it was a hoax. Have others gotten these calls?

Have some yin yang puppies in the midst of all this chaos.

My two dogs Riley (a 25lb white schnoodle with black ears and black markings on his face) and Ella (a 25lb apricot cockapoo) laying cuddled in a yin yang position. They both died of natural causes last year, 10 months apart, both almost 18 years old. Photo prompted because the absolutely devastating iPhone reminder reel noted that this was taken 10 years ago today.

Ezra Klein article on AI: My experience of Anthropic’s Claude in recent months is that I’ll drop in a stub of a thought and immediately receive paragraphs of often elegant writing turning that intuition into something that looks, superficially, like a fully realized idea. It’s my impulse, but it has been recast and extended into something far more coherent. With each passing month, I have to expend more energy to recognize whether it’s fundamentally wrong or hollow.

The pressure of losing that Christmas money in the economy eded the Government Shutdown. Be not deceived.

Walmart gets plenty of food stamp money, & airlines get what’s left. They saw the losses in holiday air & interstate travel across so many industries from oil to food to all the retail in between.

It only works if everybody keeps consuming. It all falls apart because the wealthy don’t spend they only profit from convincing us to do so at every turn.

So no, those democrats who conceded ain’t exactly getting nothing they just didn’t get it for the people, they got it as a win for the cascaded suffering of businesses in their districts (and some in their pockets too). That’s the real trickle down economics. There’s a benefit but you won’t hardly feel it on its fall from the mountain tops.

Honestly, this is why we need a qualitative data lab. People are dunking on these folks or calling them stupid but they are *reasoning about politics* and in similar ways, it’s just really difficult to decipher & we don’t have the long form interview data at scale that we would need to get insight.

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.

Standing in the rain with a couple thousand people in Providence shouting NO KINGS is such a ridiculous thing to have to do but here we ALL are across our towns, counties, cities, states, country, & around the 🌍 doing it.
