Geek, politics junkie, lawyer, Canadian. Everything is my own views, nothing to do with my employer. He/him.
Had an absolute blast tonight. Metric, with Broken Social Scene and Stars opening for them. Just start to finish bangers. Got to see the show with good friends too.
It was very cool to visit the Old Town Glassworks in Yellowknife today. It's a worker owned cooperative and focused on turning discarded glass into beautiful drinking vessels and other things. I even got to etch some of my own to take home.
Byzantine-style religious architecture and decorative art is just next level. The Byzantine-style gold field mosaics preserved in Italy are astonishing. This picture I took in the Capella Palatina in Palermo, which was decorated in the 12th century.
Fellow lawyers will recognize a court that is PISSED here. Divisional Court doesn't call decisions it is reviewing "nothing short of shocking" very often. www.canlii.org/en/on/onscdc...
Emergency cat pics you say? Here's Marcus enjoying the view out the window from his favourite chair.
And now for a timeline cleanse, some mallard ducklings that I saw on Middle Cove Beach in Newfoundland last week. #birds
I got to see some beautiful things in St. John's today. I also got hailed on, twice, so a classic Newfoundland kind of day.
This is my guy right this moment. But he was rescued at six weeks old so can't possibly remember his life outside.
I got this gorgeous three-volume set of The History of Middle Earth for Christmas and it's glorious.
I want dinner, but also I have this guy who has been sleeping on my legs for like two hours. I can't eat until he decides to wake up and wander off.
I was at Rome's Palazzo Massimo museum a few days ago, and saw these beautiful mosaic tesserae. They made me think of @guygavrielkay.bsky.social's Sarantine Mosaic and a mosaicist being moved to tears by the quality of some tesserae.
