Ys Series - Digital Emelas
@digitalemelas
is the largest fansite dedicated to the Ys series, introducing new players, preserving its culture & spreading awareness in the West.
#PhysicalMediaMatters #Ys For those following our journey, this is a variant of the game we shared yesterday.
An important point that deserves FAR more attention: It's not just about preservation or today's ownership. What happens to digital licenses when you're gone? They're tied to 1 account, 1 person. Physical can be willed to children, friends, even a dog. Digital has no equity.
The Trails series won't be over by 2028. Many of us started and continue to collect physical on #PlayStation. Something to consider...
The #Ys video game series turns 39 today. Happy Birthday!
Other than Adol and Dogi, who is your favourite characters in the entire #Ys series? And please tell us why!
Thank you @xseedgames.bsky.social for sponsoring #Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta for the www.DigitalEmelas.com website. It will be added to our gallery shortly! Our Ys shelf is overflowing. Need a new cabinet.
#Ys III Wanderers from Ys was released on Super Nintendo in 1992 and was many peoples' entry into the series. Valestein Castle was renamed "Ballacetine Castle" in the North America, one of several quirky translation choices from the early 90s.
With #Ys #Celceta now available, we'd love to see photos of your #NintendoSwitch collection! Out now: Ys Origin YS Origin (Best Buy Variant) Ys Memoire: Felghana Ys Memoire: Celceta Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Ys X: Nordics Ys vs Trails (does this count?)
#Ys III: Wanderers from Ys launched on the #TurboGrafx-CD in North America in late 1991. It marked a shift away from the bump system, replacing it with a side scrolling action platformer. The cover did not feature Adol and confused many into thinking it was. Have you played this?
#Ys I & II Chronicles released in 2011 for the #PSP in North America by @xseedgames.bsky.social, translated and produced by two members of our core team. Do you own this physical? If so, flip the instruction booklet backwards. You'll find a strategy guide that players often overlook!
Published by Atlus, Legacy of #Ys on the DS launched in the West in 2009. Interestingly, the two titles were released separately in Japan. This version also replaces the classic bump system with a dedicated attack button, making it one of the most unusual takes on the duology.
Released in North America in 1990 for TurboGrafx-CD, #Ys Book I & II combined the first 2 games into one experience with anime-style cutscenes, CD quality music, and full voice acting, showcasing the true potential of early CD gaming.
With the release of the Power Base Converter (a backwards compatible device), Sega pushed Master System titles under the "Sega For The 90s" label. Ys was an early example marking its first North American re-release. Complete copies with all 3 elements have become increasingly rare.
The very first release in North America was #Ys: The Vanished Omens in 1989 on the Sega Master system. The localization team misspelled the title as Y's, causing heavy confusion with editors and fans then calling it "Wise". Adol was known as Aron, while Dark Fact was Dark Dekt.
Did you start with #Ys and play Trails after? Or did you start with Trails then jump to Ys? Maybe you started with a different Falcom game?
