I feel this is a particularly grim example of the traditional shocked face YouTube thumbnail. Go and stick your head down the nearest toilet, the pair of you.
Question: for around 20 seconds or so, the following caption appears on the show. (This is taken directly from an off-air.) It looks like a watermark of the broadcasting station - has anyone ever seen this before? Was it a common thing at the time?
The highlight: a parody of all the celebratory anniversary programmes which networks were making at the time. Here, we get a celebration of "Mary: The First 25 Minutes", with Carl Reiner.
For anyone interested, here’s a bit of background from the AP, July 1974.
This is Sally Struthers talking about her time on All in the Family, and is literally, actually, entirely false. If you watch the shows, she gets loads to do. Proper big comedic moments. What a load of made-up bullshit.
All in the Family is kicking off Season 5 with an ambitious four-parter about the financial affairs of The Bunkers.
Just seen another brilliant definitely-in-good-faith take here on Bluesky!!!
Just seen yet another bad faith argument from somebody I thought was sensible.
There are also moments which surely worked well on the page, but they didn't have the money to sell them on-screen. In your imagination, a modern US stamping down on the traditional English should be a striking, memorable image. As shot, it just doesn't register.
I could never get a job in social media, you aren't allowed to post a clip like this without plastering the caption AL BUNDY'S BORING JOB!!!!! IT'S SO RELATABLE!!!!!!! all over it.
Also from "Al Bundy, Shoe Dick" is this amazing joke from Al at the end, which is a gag I don't think I've heard anywhere else. What really gets me about MWC is that the line-by-line jokes are generally so strong and original. They put the effort into the bits that matter.
Married With Children, "So This Is How Sinatra Felt" (Fox TX: 1st December 1991)
Also, Kelly walking in wearing this top - which nobody even remarks upon - is one of the funniest things the show ever did.
I stand for quick and swift judgement in all forms, but I also have this image saved on my phone, so this may be ill-advised.
I wrote a short thing about one of my favourite moments in Married... with Children. www.dirtyfeed.org/2026/06/elec...
Ever since I was sent the following by Tumblr in 2018, I've been worried about this shit. Because I was dealing with what I thought were harmless accounts, and I thought I was clever enough to spot dodgy people when I see them. But... no, clearly not.
Married With Children, "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" (Fox TX: 18th November 1990). Bud "fixes" the doorbell, and MWC decides to the effect PROPERLY, all in one shot. How easy it would have been to cheat and just cut to a close-up of Bud, and they don't!
There is a fascinating, sick, queasy feeling when I watch clips of those years now. I never saw Boris and Ivana at the time - description taken from NHP30 - but watching it now, I do have a respect for how unpleasant the show was willing to be!
Talk on here today about what scared you as a kid reminds me of something I wrote a few years ago - about how terrified I was of Knightmare and its GRINNING BASTARD SKULL. www.dirtyfeed.org/2020/07/cond...
I don't tend to write much about music, but I just couldn't resist this one. On a track by dance music pioneer Patrick Cowley, which went unreleased for over four decades. www.dirtyfeed.org/2026/05/a-ch...
