The people giving this ludicrous advice, especially if they took out and/or paid off the loans between 2009 and 2021:

Used as a quick visual shorthand for survivorship bias (aka attrition bias), a form of sampling bias which overrepresents the characteristics of members of a population which did *not* get culled from the sample.
