Spare me your protestations! One of you has brutally killed Apple's profit margins in cold blood. A detestable crime, in this day and age. If we cannot protect shareholder value, what, then is sacred?
So you will permit me, before identifying the guilty party, to say a few words? Thank you. For it will surprise none of you, certainly, that Apple's margins had no shortage of enemies.

I'd had about enough of being slagged off by Cabby Price, whether or not I needed his help, and I ripped a deep snort at that line. "Jesus Christ, do you ever stop to listen to yourself? You get off on these power trips, like you're the king of the castle, but first off," I said, ticking items off on my fingers, "the only reason you're here is because you happened to get born to the right family at the right time, so congratulations on being born with a whole silver spoon stuck up your ass. Second, because your daddy finally deigned to hand the keys to the kingdom after several years of you demonstrating that you couldn't even be trusted to run a charity egg and silver spoon race. And third, third," I said, jabbing at my ring finger, "I forget what third was, but it was going to pay off
that whole spoon motif, and it was really fucking good."

I'd been aiming to hit the 50,000-word mark on the current novel before my vacation last week, but fell a little short. A solid 1500-word session today put me over the top. Slowly but surely, progress is being made.

I want to retract my snark about that NYT article on Gregg Phillips's teleportation claims because I finally got a chance to read it and it is, frankly, hilarious in an extremely dry, intentional way. They reworked the headline to be more indicative of the tone. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/03/u...
