I bought this purse at an antique store on Snelling near the St. Clair Broiler. The store was called Rose's Attic or something of that nature. It originally had a "protective" layer of cellophane that was very fragile. #ThingThursday
I dig greens from Revol Greens: www.revolgreens.com Or Bright Farms. They're greenhouse grown so no pesticides or manure. I still put them in a bath of slightly soapy water and lemon juice. I'm just that way. But I'm never sick.
These are my paternal grandfathers spectacles that we found in the farmhouse we moved into a decade or so ago. We featured them on a wall in the livingroom while we were there. Now they're in my studio. #ThingThursday (The color of the photo isn't true. Don't know what's up with that.)
My mom told me when I was a kid that flamenco dancers had ailing kidneys because of all the stomping the dance required. Decades later I ate lunch daily with a co-worker who danced flamenco. I forgot about this factoid, so never asked her about it. MISSED OPPORTUNITY!
In the 80s I thought Juice Newton and Laraine Newman were sisters, despite (or because of?) their different-yet-similar last names. I never questioned it until today.
Had to document that I used an actual dictionary instead of my desktop one.
It's a #ThingThursday twofer! Here's David wearing my Aunt Bert's velvet hat. The bust rests on a Corinthian column.
This is a bust of Michelangelo's David that I bought at a Menards. It's kind of rubbery. I don't know what it's actually made of. It's made for outdoor display but I keep it in my studio. #ThingThursday
Hitchcock's The Birds made a longlasting impact on my psyche. So when a bird flies right at me into the window in front of me, it leaves an impression on more than the glass.
An album of street vendor calls/chants/songs. I bought this at Face the Music in Rochester, MN. The first commercial I ever produced as an intern was for them. I dug the store so made up a storyboard full of New Wave zeal and gave it to their ad rep. They're still in business! #ThingThursday
I'll see your cat and raise you a fluffy dog. (Circa 1845 from the Museum of Curiousities. Originally posted by 41 Strange on Twitter.)

Podcast "The Three Questions with Andy Richter" and iconic Minnesota human interest program "On the Road with Jason Davis" use the same theme and bumper music. #LocalAngle
Thing Thursday Everyone in the Design Department got to go the BDA (Broadcast Designers Association) convention in the Pacific Northwest except me. I was new and somebody had to stay put for any Design Emergencies. They brought me souvenirs, one of which was this wee container of Mt. St. Helens ash.
Giggled like Nick Offerman when I gazed upon my lunch.
"Bunny Cake Is Missing!" is not on the Guardian's 100 list, but it only takes 30 seconds to read, so there's that. dmsfick.substack.com/publish/post...
Patrician's ancestor?!?!? His columnist photo could reasonably earn him the moniker "Crabby Appleton." He wrote an opinion-piece about the Artemis II mission. I think he was agin it.
New buddy cop show sweeping the nation! (When you read this, keep in mind that Emerson himself once rhymed “stone” with “gone.”) dmsfick.substack.com/p/the-new-bu...
