If every town has a food it is particularly proud of, here it is the blt (and the barbecue). This is a double blt, as modeled by my son. It is a beast.
Misty is outside now working on it, and she sent me this, literally as I was writing the last post.
@beeregenerative.bsky.social "If you plant it, they will come." I haven't seen one of these in five years, but here he is.
My front quad on a random Wednesday. You have to ask permission to sit in those chairs. :)
@irynacranny.bsky.social This was that night. Not the best party I've ever been to. ;-)
Did you see this one from @cpaone.bsky.social, taken several miles north of Boston in the middle of nowhere? Scotland definitely left an impression.
last night at lucha tigre. Misty got some weird chicken dish, I got seafood curry (of course) and we had these funky tequila drinks that use Tecate as a mixer. We had a great time. :)
Since Miracle Misty seized control of our gardening, we have turned our courtyard into a bug paradise. I counted 17 butterflies and 22 bees in a pretty small courtyard this afternoon. Misty took this picture this afternoon.
Baby Jesus wants me to get a corgi/golden retriever mix. But he keeps telling Misty to get a corgi/husky mix. We may have to rock paper scissors this one. :)
Oh you kids. I'm this many years old, but no one ever gave me a scalpel. ;-)
@sixftjamie.bsky.social Pinkish purple! (Misty grew these in our courtyard!) :)
Still life with cat and laundry, and still life with other cat and chair. :)
@marchurboston.bsky.social It isn't a North Carolina beach trip without this monstrosity. Fried flounder, fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried potatoes (hush puppies are more traditional), and coleslaw to make it "healthy." I got through less than half of it. ;-)
The master of meat on sticks has struck again! Today's victim was Italian marinated ribeye, with salad and wild rice. There was much rejoicing.
After tikka masala night, Misty took her daughter out for a touch of dessert. (I stayed home with my advil sippy cup. No way I'm walking down Franklin Street with this back unless there's a guy prodding me in the back with a bayonet.)
They look great, Herre! I've worn the same sunglasses for 30 some-odd years. Hideous but insanely effective glacier glasses that are almost brutal in how much glare they block. The side skirts make them useless for driving, but otherwise they're the best eye protection I know.
I've posted this picture a million times, but I don't take a lot of pictures. This is my son and Misty's daughter at our wedding.
so we went from two adults and one dog, to two grownups, one deaf senile 90-year old, one deaf senile dog, one barky dog, two cats, and two twenty-somethings in really short order. But I'm okay, it's okay. ;-)
One of the bigger disappointments of the east coast is the extinction of the Carolina parakeet, which was beautiful and very smart. Ecosystem degradation and pretty feathers did them in. I wish we still had Carolina parakeets.
