Special education teacher + union & DSA member running for Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District. Fighting for universal healthcare, public education, our U.S. Constitution, our coastal environment, and an affordable quality of life. Www.laurenjewett.com
Come join us this weekend for our own #Odyssey 🌊 of campaign events in Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District! We’ve got canvassing in Orleans Parish, the LaurenPalooza fundraiser in St. Tammany Parish, and an event for screen printing volunteer shirts in Jefferson Parish.
We’re honored to share that our campaign has been endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund. This work isn’t new to me. I’ve spent years alongside the Moms Demand Action New Orleans chapter — talking to state legislators about safe gun storage bills and opposing arming teachers.
Whether you’ve taught with Lauren, knocked doors for her campaigns, signed her nominating petition, met her at an event, or just believe in what she’s fighting for — tell us why you’re voting for or supporting Lauren Jewett for U.S. House in Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District on 11/3/26!

My heart is with the Salgado and Guerrero families, and with the people of Houston and Biddeford who are watching their neighbors die in encounters that never should have happened.

Our volunteers are simply the best and a major reason we were able to collect and secure candidate nominating signatures for the second time this cycle! Thank you so much to everyone who supported in this endeavor and congrats to our top 5 signature collectors:
Oops…they did it again by changing our U.S. House primary date in Louisiana (for the third time this election cycle 😮💨) and oops…we did it again by collecting over 1,000+ candidate nominating petition signatures! We more than doubled our goal again and collected almost 5x the required amount!

Typically, you can go to the Voter Portal through the Geaux Vote App 📲 or Secretary of State website 🔗 and click on My Districts and look for “Congress: 01.” However, the Voter Portal is not yet up to date as of 7/5/26 and still shows precincts and districts reflective of the 2024 maps.
The biggest impacts from redistricting are the loss of 41 precincts across Livingston, Ascension, & St. Charles Parishes, the addition of 53 precincts from the eastern half of Terrebonne Parish, and significant shuffling of precincts in Orleans Parish.
Many people have told me they are confused about how the new redistricting process has impacted them. Over the last few weeks, I analyzed the new maps and precincts to share the changes to Congressional District 1. LA-01 has gained 78 new precincts for 2026 and lost 86 precincts from the 2024 map.
ARE YOU IN THE NEW CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 1? As many of you know, the Louisiana legislature passed SB 121 which Governor Landry signed into law as Act 2 on May 29, 2026. This legislation resulted in congressional redistricting for the 2026 congressional maps in Louisiana.
We rise together or we don’t rise at all. Happy Interdependence Day and Fourth of July! 🇺🇸
Democracy works because we make it work together. And we take care of each other by taking care of our democracy. Caring for every child. Caring for every family. Caring for every person who needs healthcare. Caring for our land and environment. Caring for every word of our Constitution.
The Preamble to the U.S. Constitution opens with “We the People of the United States in order to form a more perfect Union.” Our democracy only works and becomes stronger when we see it through the lens of active participation and self-improvement to address injustices.
We call it Independence Day — but what we’re really celebrating is our interdependence. The Declaration of Independence noted that governments are instituted among us, “deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
🥳 Reminder! We are just 2 weeks away from our Slidell shindig! Come join us on Sat., July 18 from 4:30pm- 9:30pm for Laurenpalooza hosted by our supporters of the U.S. Congressional District 1 campaign! 🩷💚💙 🎶 🎸 Live music 🥙🍹 Food and drinks 🎟️🎁 Silent auction RSVP today at bit.ly/laurenpalooza
What are you doing in this moment to push back against injustice — and are you sure it isn’t reinforcing the very stereotypes and biases you’re trying to fight?
I got a little misty-eyed at a few points on the tour, because we’re still fighting many of these same battles today around voting rights, due process, and citizenship, as well as misogyny and racism.
Frederick Douglass, who also lived in Rochester and published his abolitionist newspaper, The North Star, there, had a close friendship with Anthony. This friendship grew strained during debates over the 15th Amendment. Anthony and Stanton opposed the amendment because it left women disenfranchised.
I really enjoyed our tour with the docent and appreciated the nuance she brought to so many aspects of SBA’s life. While early suffragists were instrumental in the passage of the 19th Amendment, their fight for voting rights often centered white women, leaving Black women out of that access.
Earlier this week, my aunt and I visited the Susan B. Anthony House and Museum in my hometown of Rochester, NY, where I also attended undergrad. As a junior in college, I received the Susan B. Anthony Scholarship in 2008 for leadership, academic excellence & commitment to community.
Disability Pride Month means something personal to me. I grew up watching my aunt with Down Syndrome live a life filled with determination, fun, and care. And for 17 years as a special education teacher, I’ve spent every day witnessing the brilliance and joy of students.
Last activity for our end of quarter fundraising day and it’s a fun one that incorporates place value (you know I’m a teacher🤓)! In honor of running to represent District 1 and putting people first, make a donation amount that ends in the number 1️⃣.
