Unlike some of my other works, there isn’t an intentional “deeper” meaning behind this one. Although, I believe all art is influenced by our subconscious desires and perspectives. Plus, this painting all pictures stuff I own, besides the table and wall, so it does absolutely convey a bit about me as a person and status as a pretentious artist. For example, you can see both the pencil and tablet I often use to draw digitally, despite the painting itself being a traditional piece, my attempts to learn Japanese with the textbooks present, and even my attempts to branch out and read more books written by women and POC with N.K. Jemisin’s “The Obelisk Gate” of the “Broken Earth” trilogy. Maybe this even shows a manifestation of capitalism within our society and stuff I might think are worth buying. Nevertheless this piece is merely one of my first attempts at seriously painting and learning watercolor. You can already tell that my style lends itself better to something like gouache or acrylic with how thick I laid down the paint.

I was recommended to take pictures of my longer paintings as I worked on them by the professor. Partially to see the progress and partially in case we made any mistakes or choices we didn’t like later. The image on the far right is a picture of the original reference.

one with white's and one without. I mostly used the one with whites just because exporting over 20 versions to get both and uploading them can get time consuming. So a one of the variants don't have whites in their eyes.

I actually wasn't sure if I was supposed to interpret Gwen's eyes as having pupils or more buggy looking alien eyes since usually Strawhat draws characters without sclera / whites anyway but Gwen's pupils are definitely bigger than normal. Either way I made two layers-
