Hey @desduck.bsky.social I'm trying one of your 2025 album recommendations, Ethmebb's Allo Babar et les Caramboleurs, any idea why I've apparently got the "digestible version" of this album on Tidal?

Something not at all new, this is my flying album. I hate flying so if I'm ever on a plane then I stick this bad boy on so the sound can drown out the engine noise.

Something completely new to me! A suggestion from my mam, I hadn't heard of Alison Moyet before but I can see some of that early 80s synth in it, and she has an amazing voice.

"This is happening" was actually the album that got me into LCD Soundsystem because the title track is such a banger, though I get told it's their worst album. Sound of Silver is probably my favourite, whole album, well rounded, fitting start and end, few nice drops.

I can see why Gary Numan is considered ahead of his time. The Pleasure Principle is a great album and you can hear the influence it has on modern music, literally in some cases.

I don't know if I'm being unfair by suggesting that once you've listened to one Interpol album, you've listened to them all. Much as I do like the way songs build up momentum, and this album I quite enjoyed, I've never thought they did much differently with the others.

The Lancashire Hotpots did a song called "Cheer up Thom Yorke" and I think this would apply to Röyksopp too, after 3 upbeat synth pop studio albums, their fourth album Senior just went super dark. Teenage me really liked it, and it's still a fun listen if at times eerie.

Travis are one of those bands where you'll know the singles but maybe not the albums; I think they were unfortunate to be popular in the early '00s when cynicism was popular and the band's attempts at meaningful and vulnerable lyrics were dismissed as trite. I think their albums do have weak points…

Justice's eponymous debut album is one of my favourite albums-as-an-album. The sounds between tracks feed into each other; I don't think there's any weak tracks although I will sometimes skip "Stress" because it stresses me out.
