Can't deal with sticker paralysis? get a glass topped coffee table and slip em all under the glass. They're safe, on display, and still haven't been stuck so when you finally find the right home for one it's still good to go! You can also slip small commissions in there too!

it's shop organization and miata track prep day! got most of the prep done last week actually. I still just can't believe I took the silly girl pills and one day I just woke up looking like this. I get to throw on shop clothes, tie my hair back, and somehow look cute as hell while shop wrenching!🥰

Have worked this general concept over four times now. haven't made much progress in creating something I like on a practical level. Concept was to have the walls dado'd in place, and their presence would by extension capture the floor. Revisiting this one more time tonight. floor = half a dado?
oop, I dove in without documenting lets see here I determined the next problem to solve is how to support the cabinet floor and walls. I'm already coming up with new ideas. drinking a silly lil weed drink before getting started was a very very good idea :3c will update when this makes more sense
1st draft redesign done. It'd be comprised of two 2x4" hardwood chunks laminated together, then machined to accept the horizontal stringers which will be joined with a half lap. This is pretty damn chunky, not the vibe I originally envisioned, but I think I can work with it. May revisit this later.
plan with 2x2" was I could notch the outer surfaces to clear the 1/2" thick baseboards, then taper the leg for visual aesthetics. This leg would have run the full height of the piece as a hardwood accent piece. Can't do that with 1.5x1.5" so I need to step back and approach the visual design anew.
I made a SketchUp model of our house when we first moved it, it allows me to check furniture sizes when shopping/designing, or play with reorganizing. So I open that and start roughing out the concept before I realize I built my model poorly and also need to consider available lumber dimensions.
