Everyone take care of your cardiovascular health. Heart surgery is the worst. 0 stars, do not recommend. But we might have the best view in the hospital.
My mom is having open heart surgery today, at the hospital where she was a nurse for 30 years. Throughout this process she has encountered so many other nurses who fondly remember her as a mentor and friend. The turtle pond in the cafeteria is nice. I'll be keeping our matching necklaces safe.
Having now had 2 wren nests in our garage now, both clutches have fledged within 24hrs of a large storm. Is this a thing with wrens? Other birds?

Welp, true to form, the weather is not cooperating for our field work. The rain was supposed to be all weekend so we could sample on Wed. Looks like thats not happening now...Not sure what to do.
Definitely the kind of day that makes you fall head over heels with field work!
Ready for my student's first field collection tomorrow! We'll be collecting lake beach water for bacteria and phytoplankton, looking to see how rain storms affect biodiversity and if there are any predictive relationships (🦠↔️🌱❓️)
