Still can't believe Kroger is just selling Diarrhea Farms' convict leasing produce and then on the ap urges customers to "Romaine calm" while upselling hydroponic. GET A NEW SUPPLIER. Contempt for the customer is glaring.
Starting with the Isaac Project at Christ Cathedral, and spreading through denominations that reject white Christian Nationalism, churches are investigating ways their congregations failed to show up for Black people throughout Nashville's history so that they can course correct.
These are Civil War and Reconstruction-era ledgers in the German language from First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Their first pastor was a Civil War chaplain and abolitionist.
MACC Nashville finally had room for our little North Nashville Hound-dini! They will help her get better and hopefully adopted to a good home. I heard through the volunteer grapevine today that one of the Titans players had also been trying to catch her this whole time!
Confirmed: the phantom cryptid and escape artist of North Nashville does not have a microchip, and is in need of a foster or forever home. She's crate-trained, sweet-tempered, and great with other dogs, just has a propensity for jumping fences or digging under them to escape. Can y'all help us?
Doggo spent the rest of the night decompressing in a kennel at foster's house. It's a shared home of musicians in West Nashville with a dog it has already befriended, and foster sent me this pic to let me know Doggo hasn't said a peep. Slept soundly all night. It must have been exhausted!
Nice Lady from the neighboring town showed up 30 mins later in her giant car to help transport. We picked up Doggo, trap and all, and while Doggo protested at first, the air conditioning got its attention. That's right, Doggo. No more 90 degree nights for you!
The foster showed up just as the neighbor pulled out and the dog recognized her! It turns out the foster was the first person in the lost pets group to find this dog, back on WHITE BRIDGE PIKE three months ago. It followed her and her dog home but jumped over the fence to escape at night.
Yes! Success! The lost/stray dog an entire internet group has been tracking across North Nashville is trapped! We called Nice Lady who drove over from the neighboring town to meet with foster at neighbor's house, then tried to keep the dog, who had begun singing the song of its people, quiet.
Poor doggo was getting exhausted from trying to figure out how to get the treats without going inside. It tentatively poked in its head and my neighbor and I froze in silence.
We couldn't believe this docile little soul had lived on the streets for nearly three months, evading capture 4 times. I called up the nice lady who advised me to move the trap to my neighbor's yard, so we did. Doggo was curious.
She dropped her address in a DM and I rushed over at 10pm- just 10 doors down, and there was the elusive doggo in my neighbor's yard. Last month my neighbor captured the dog and it dug its way free when her back was turned. This time the neighbor stayed in the yard and fed treats.
At least our resident Panthers are enjoying the minnows & sausages in the dog trao. *sigh* come on, Doggo. I know you want some.
What genius pupper could resist this stinky bait of kibble with Vienna Sausages and freeze-dried minnows revived with the jellied goop inside a Vienna Sausage can??? At the very least, this dog might approach the trap just so it can roll in this mess. Scent trail has been replaced. Now we wait.
I just remembered that during January's ice storm, friends brought their cats over because we had heat. As a thank you one brought freeze-dried minnows they had forgotten to take off auto-ship. My cat didn't recognize them as food, but maybe Doggo will enjoy the crunchy stink?
And then this morning my neighbor's cat came to check out the smells at the trap. He's a lazy Orange Tom and my little gardening friend. He comes to check out what I'm doing when I'm knee-deep in the weeds before it gets properly hot outside in the morning. Note: our Orange cat HATES him. 🐈
GM! Our dog trap had visitors all through the night: the pair of voids came back SIX times, but then during the quietest darkest night, Mr. Possum came to check it out. Sadly no sign of Doggo.
Going to bed but this pair are still at it. So smart- one eats, the other watches. Still no sign of the dog we're trying to trap.
So a few times the camera alerted me to an animal in the dog trap, and each time it was a black cat. I ran out to shoo them away a couple of times, and now they are back. One void snacks while the other keeps watch for the scary lady. I love how these two love each other! 😭
HOW is this black cat back for more already?? I know it's the same one because its tail has a white tip. Poor hungry thing.
I also remembered to spray a mixture of chicken broth and liquid smoke around the garden to make a scent trail from where the doggo enters my property to the trap. I'm hoping for a Fefe LaFume sort of effect. I want it to tap this dog's nose and then hook it by the nostrils and pull it in.
Alright, dinner time! She has always been spptted around this time. I put out more chicken & Vienna Sausages and all the nasty smelly juice. What dog could refuse?
Little void has returned! Think I'll put some catfood out on the other side of the yard to give the doggo a chance to feast at the trap. This feels a bit like sending the spider to catch the fly but I'm in it now.
Whenever white people bitch about Juneteenth I think they should be forced to eat the Sandra Lee Kwanzaa cake with "acorns" (corn nuts) that made me lose a day's work (and thankfully not consciousness) during a roommate-sanctioned Sandra Lee drinking game back in the 00s.
An Orange one!!! This one I recognize-- he belongs two houses down and often hangs out on my porch because this is an Orange cat household and he exploits that. Still not our dog, unfortunately.
The cat is gorgeous, just not who we were hoping to see in the trap!
This little panther has been feeding all night! RIP my notifications from this camera in the dog trap.
A void has returned for sherry and cigars in the drawing room. Cats are eating good tonight but no sign of our elusive cryptid doggo of North Nashville!
Wait, is this THREE CATS in the dog trap? The two black ones inside and then the one outside? Am I seeing this correctly? Is my yard a cat hotel???
Now it's two little voids in the dog trap! How I wish people didn't keep outdoor cats here. Don't worry, the trap isn't rigged to spring yet. This is the first night, just to see if we can get the dog to trust the trap.
