Had the nephews for the afternoon. We made chocolate chip cookies. They got tired of rolling them and decided to use the last of the dough to make one giant cookie. I told them it would likely overbake at the edges and underbake in the middle but they seemed happy with the outcome.
Drizzly day but a tough field for the Grand Beach Sun run 10k. Ran my fastest 10km since the Kevin Chief challenge and still didn’t place in the M50-54 division. My cheering squad was out though (the course runs by our cottage twice).
BF has been on robin watch duty today. Day 14. One of the parents chased off a curious whiskey jack earlier that got too close.
Hoopla island in Pinawa with the nephews today. I was probably the oldest dude doing cannonballs off the top tier (I will feel this tomorrow)

Mom would’ve been 85 today Still as true today as when we wrote the obituary Heather always made the extra effort to be present for people. It was a remarkable gift and its impact on those of us lucky to know her was tremendous. She fortified us all with consistent love and support. We adored her.
Made a Saskatoon and rhubarb pie with Saskatoons the bf foraged and rhubarb from the garden.
We have a robin nest and babies under our second floor nest at the lake. This feels late in the year for them? @secondnaturemb.bsky.social ?
My lake dinner last night. Toasted bun. Yellow mustard and sliced dill pickles. Side order of grilled MB asparagus (cuz we fancy) and a local lager.
One strawberry and one strawberry rhubarb pie. First time making the strawberry rhubarb one
We inherited a rhubarb patch at the lake and so today I made apple rhubarb crumble bars. They turned out pretty well. I would parbake the crust for less time in the future but I’d make them again.

It’s maybe not the most urgent issue of the times but there must be a way for weather apps to not make it look like the whole day will be rain when it will really rain <1mm for 15 minutes
