Ink sketches from this week. Day four of lampreys of Wisconsin. They're kind of boring. #SundayFishSketch
Talked wetlands on a paddle this morning with the Two Rivers Parks and Rec department. Picked up some trash. Saw a green heron. #GreatLakes
Fish faces. Goldeye and goldfish sketched today for #SundayFishSketch with some others from the week.
Done with the darters (well, "darter," because log perch is still to come), so today for #SundayFishSketch is the freshwater drum (aka sheepshead).
"I can't believe I ate the whole thing" is probably what this young of the year largemouth bass is thinking. I thought it has a disease because of a distended abdomen, but then saw the be tail of its meal sticking out of its mouth! #GreatLakes
Still riding the darter train with today's Least Dater, one of the smaller fish species in North America. I worked with this tiny fish in the southern end of their range (glacial relic) in southern Oklahoma. #sundayfishsketch
The Badger Car Ferry is in from Ludington, MI. This time of the year, the Badger makes two crossings per day. It is part of the US Highway 10 route.
Working Waterfront. Manitowoc, WI Celebrating the Great Lakes since the ice retreated ten thousand years ago!
For today's #SundayFishSketch , I reached the darters. Not sure I love how they worked out but I've got 13 more to work out the kinks! Also the frowning daces from last week.

Western Blacknose Dace for today's #SundayFishSketch. We've been seeing a lot of these in Port Washington lately. Also the other fish faces from the week. Cisco and Crappie.
Cisco face for #SundayFishSketch! Also known as Lake Herring (not actually a herring), this species supports a commercial fishery in the @GreatLakes.
Gravel Chub for today's #SundayFishSketch. Also some other funny fish faces.
Another funny fish face for #SundayFishSketch with the Silver Carp. I'm working through all the Wisconsin species because head-on views are adorable!
I recommend the new book from @stevebrusatte.bsky.social The Story of Birds. It covers the the whole story from the age of dinosaurs to today. Key message: Birds are dinosaurs! My son wanted to be a paleontologist when he was younger, but now switched to ornithologist. Same thing!
Clouds over Mount Adams/Patú/cʼilíləɬ in a time lapse on a windy day.
It's another funny fish faces edition of #SundayFishSketch with the Black Bullhead. I think I'm starting to figure it out. Guest star, Smallmouth Buffalo.
Forgot to post yesterday but here are more fish faces for #SundayFishSketch. Finished the bass with yellow bass.
My 14th year of spring beach cleanups at Silver Creek beach in Manitowoc. At this point I just feel anger while picking up all this plastic. Why is this my job? Most common items were plastic bottle caps, misc small plastic, and cigar tips. Burned out on this endless effort... #GreatLakes
