I cannot think of a more short-sighted, mean-spirited argument than some languages should be allowed to die. In addition to the culture lost, the implicit message is that some cultures are worth sacrificing. This is a consequence of rampant capitalism and profit-motive.
Yesterday, I finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Sure to enter my list of all-time favorites, this book is both horrifying and beautiful and expertly explores love in a doomed world. My ine complaint is that i could do without such a hopeful ending lol.

This has been stated before, but we could higer Rhodes Scholars and train them to death, that will do nothing to arrest their abuses of human rights and people. Their mission is their mission and it doesn't matter if they are well trained.
🇨🇿 Yesterday, I finished The Castle by Franz Kafka. While The Trial is still my favorite novel from him, this was still a great and compelling read. This is probably the most 'Kafka-esqe' of his books I've read. Even though it was unfinished, it still felt complete by the end.

🇵🇱 📖 Yesterday I finished Ashes and Diamons by Jerzy Andrzejewski. Excellent. Exactly the themes and ideas that I am interested in. Might by my new favorite novel ever. If you are interested in Poland, history, identity, memory, you need to read this.

🇺🇦 Yet further proof that 🇷🇺 and Putin are not interested in a peaceful end to the conflict that does not allow them to achieve their maximalist goals. Now that they are on somewhat of a backfoot, the Kremlin will look to change facts on the ground on the battlefield.
It really is a testament to how great Led Zeppelin II that despite containing one of the worst LZ song ever (Living Loving Maid...) and it's still their best album.
