Now, if I could just coax the cats down here to the office/sewing studio/bar.
Welcome to Bernie's Coffee Cafe and Bar (also known as my home office/quilt studio/movie theater). Pls note the dress code is winter coat, mittens, and judgement
Things I never want to do again, drive 1,100 miles with three cats in a tiny car. Nope, sorry Virginia, you're stuck with me now
Once upon a time, I was full of hope and joy when I walked up to the main gate at UNL. And this other picture, well that was the most positive face I could make today outside Teachers' College Hall
Also, this is the contents of the fridge they left us. The milk expired in February
There are friends and then there are the friends who you fought along side to not have anyone's department eliminated. They send the best memes:
Another artifact. Our former chair used to create these annual departmental summeries from our reviews. Given the size of our unit, abt 15, these numbers always seemed pretty good to me.
This is the end of the 11 steps to publication that I wrote on printer paper and taped up in my office not quite 10 years ago. Somehow, I think I need to frame this collection of sticky notes that once started at stage 1: new ideas and became my scholarly career
Finally solved the mystery of why my department got cut. It's all the binder clips I've hoarded in the last decade 😂
The cherry on top of this shit sundae of a year was having to unexpectedly say goodbye to my Charlie cat. He loved sitting on my lap at breakfast, catnip and quilts. He was the best boi
2nd batch of the 22 EdD cohort and 2 members of the 23 cohort graduated today. I am especially grateful that the 22s trusted me when I said, I've never done this before, but let's try it! It worked and I'm so proud of each of these scholar-practicioners who embodies the EdD is that change the world
Stop 1 on the goodbye tour: lunch at Green Gateau in honor of our secretary & grad secretary retirements. Much reminiscing about interview dinners held there. Mine involved frogs legs and being told there was a hot seat by a senior male professor and me dropping into it saying, well it must be mine.
Today was weird. I got a teaching award for courses I created in the program I revised, which got killed this year while I got fired. But now I have an Oberon on the porch so 🤷🏻♀️
This is what 10 years of AERA will do to you. J/K I aged a decade just this year
Rolled up to the Westin on Tuesday and was like, oh right that place. But then I remembered this bakery and all is well now
Some days, I think I'm just a semi-sentient cat bed/can opener combo
My desk faces a window overlooking our back alley. It's really a terrible commentary when you hope those were just cops hauling away your neighbor. Which I didn't see but I did see a familiar car get towed through the alley. Beards are definitely not standard issue on our local cops.
The metrics out of NU's central offices lists a goal of 100% online BA degrees. So the difference between your flagship R1 and the University of Phoenix is 🤏🏻
My cats fix me every day... If you don't think cats would love on you, you have not met Charlie. Or Widget, Pumpkin, Harold, Olivia, or Bonnie
This currently has been the best higher Ed use case I have found to date 🤷🏻♀️
