WC refereeing has been absolutely great, nothing to see here, says ex-referee 🤷♂️
Nice of York Council to put random guitar chords on their signs. (Apols for crap photo)
Wish they’d ban substitutes and the dugout joining in with goal celebrations. It’s aesthetically shite. All goals should be celebrated in the style of Denis Law.
For some inexplicable reason I’m a sucker for melancholic Japanese films. Favourites are Hamaguchi’s Drive my Car and Kore-eda’s After Life & Maborosi. This isn’t bad either, has a lovely Sakamoto score.
Loved ‘No Other Choice’. A lot of fun and beautifully filmed. Still prefer Decision to Leave but this wasn’t far off.
Alright, here it is, again, and it’s called… Ambient 1 : Music for Airports. Excellent accompaniment to the Ferrante book.
Slightly underwhelmed with Solvej Balle “on the calculation of volume 1”. I realise there are 7 in the series and I think that’s the problem. A really interesting idea but seems to be all set up and it doesn’t have time to go anywhere more interesting. Definitely want to continue though.
Just finished Mark Kermode/Jenny Nelson’s ‘Surround Sound’. Marvellous stuff. Nice to see my obsession with Eiko’s Drive My Car is shared by Mark. Also great to see the prominence of some of my favourites - Hildur, Jonny G, Blanck Mass, Clint Mansell and others - alongside the old legends.
I very much doubt this will place at all but it might be my number one choice. dEUS - Worst Case Scenario #5DebutAlbums9094
Absolutely loving Everything We Do Is Music by Elizabeth Alker. Despite being familiar with most of the artists discussed this book digs deep (enough) and constantly reveals new and interesting ideas and connections. The chapter on Pauline Oliveros is fantastic. Inspiring me to keep muddling on.
Really hoping the new Park Chan-Wook is showing somewhere nearby in January. Absolutely loved Decision to Leave and this looks up there with it.
Still thinking about that amazing Dirty Three show last Wednesday. So glad I eventually got round to seeing them.
After sitting on it for 6 months wondering whether there was any point releasing any more music I’ve gone for it and uploaded a new album to Bandcamp ready for publishing tomorrow. If this seems like an underwhelming piece of promo I can only apologise. I hope someone out there enjoys the music.
