New in DADR: Harris et al. developed a 3-year cardiovascular risk prediction model for adults who use cocaine or methamphetamine. Using data from 6,940 adults, the model showed strong calibration and supports stimulant-specific cardiovascular risk assessment. Read here: doi.org/10.1016/j.da...
New article by Adams et al. found that AUD diagnoses increased among commercially insured U.S. adults from 2016–2023. Adults with disabilities had more than 3× the rate of AUD, underscoring the need for accessible, person-centered treatment. Read here: doi.org/10.1016/j.da...

New in DADR: Baillet et al. found that craving links momentary affect to later substance use among individuals with SUDs. Positive affect predicted lower craving and reduced likelihood of use, while negative affect predicted higher craving and greater likelihood of use. 10.1016/j.dadr.2026.100455

New in DADR: Gulchin et al examined substance use during pregnancy before and after the COVID-19 public health emergency. Using birth certificate data, they found increases in prenatal alcohol and other substance use, while tobacco use continued to decline. doi.org/10.1016/j.da...
Exciting news for Drug and Alcohol Dependence Reports: DADR has received an impact factor of 3.5, an increase from 2.9 in last year’s release. This growth reflects the journal’s increasing visibility and influence in the field.
June was a milestone for Drug and Alcohol Dependence Reports! Volume 19 is our largest issue yet, with 30 open-access articles spanning substance use epidemiology, harm reduction, treatment, cannabis policy, nicotine/e-cigarette use, recovery support, and translational research.

Shubel et al. conducted a scoping review of barriers and facilitators to pharmacy-based methadone dispensing for OUD. Across 41 articles, barriers included workload burden and safety concerns, and facilitators were training and positive pharmacist-patient relationships, among others.
