Severing the Bardo ‘Once and for All’ Shri Vajraḍākinī namo!

Beautiful friend (fiery searcher beetle).

A large beetle with black head, thorax and limbs that reflect blue. Green grooved Wing covers like the green June bugs.

A play on a traditional Wheel of Life thangka but it has Yama holding a circle. No idea is it's legit. The center of which is the Tibetan A syllable. There is a geometric red flower around it. At the edges of the wheel is a snake eating its tail, and on its body are the phases of the moon instead of the imagery of the twelve links of dependent origination. The eclipse is at the top where Yama is biting. Where the full moon would be at the bottom is where the snakes head swallows the tail and there is a tear falling from its eye onto a red lotus below.

Silly and sweet, pulling beards

Eeeeee! 🫶

A mottled tortoise beetle on my hand. It has a circular shield like shell on its back that is clear with a black shield shape and reflective gold spots. Incredibly cute. The metallic look of the gold spots is striking. Apparently they like all the morning glory I have around.

Cow killa

A four-spotted velvet ant (also called cow killer) crawling around the crack of a doorframe. It's not an ant but a wingless ground wasp (female). Has a reddish head and thorax with a black abdomen that has white spots and is very fuzzy on the underside.

Got a decent shot of a cuckoo wasp (they refuse to stand still!)

A green blue cuckoo wasp on the rim of a pool skimmer. It is a metallic green blue with little studs that look like jewels, which I believe is why it is also called a jewel wasp. Legs and eyes are black.

How it started ... how it went

A closed datura bloom in the day, still perfectly wrapped up but with the tips of the petals swirled into what looks like a vortex with little vortices.

The datura bloom opened at night, a large white flower with what looks like a single trumpet shaped portal, a tiny cluster of cream polleny bits inside (I'm clearly not a flower scientist).

Interesting friends rescued from the water today.

Wasp on a pool skimmer rim. Not sure what kind of wasp this is except that it's not a yellow jacket or a cicada killer. Lots of yellow, with black stripes. Small gray eyes, brown wings.

A Japanese beetle, which is somehow here. Has metallic green body with grooved brown wing covers. Standing on a light blue skimmer net.

A Delta flower scarab on a blue skimmer rim. Never seen one of these before but saw two today. Looks like a junebug with an upgraded skin, maybe from the season pass. Is black, brown, and yellow, and the most striking feature is a tan triangle against black on its upper back.

Pictures don't do justice for these. It's a very dark metallic green-blue, shows up in the photo as a reflective black. It's standing on the tip of a dry leaf as it dries.
