I remember talking with an artist friend about it, not only it's a sex-objectifying visual product, but it is also *bad* at it: hastly plastering boobs at a picture. You could say the same of Boris Vallejo, Luis Royo, etc. but there was a level of effort this game doesn't even clear.
Me: I hate encyclopedic settings... Also me: Oh shit, they staying in the city?
Fellow authors: without context, what's the first line of your WIP? "The faint smell of ash can be felt even down these catacombs, maddening my brain with false hopes."
What would happen if the worlds implied by the #DnD rules became a living, breathing setting? Where high level aventurers could conquer the realm by fireball? Who else has the right to have fun inside The King's Dungeon? ♠️ LOOTERS - A Game of Unlicensed Adventure! ♠️
It's out! It's finally out! ♠️ LOOTERS - A Game of Unlicensed Adventure! ♠️ We've been cooking this game of deadbeat adventurers trying to survive in a world of high fantasy for 4 years. I drew, co-designed & playtested the shit out of this game. #DungeonCrawling #TTRPG Links below 👇
Which made TOTAL SENSE: they insulted the baron, intruded on a haunted temple they were warned about, & were absolutely defeated by the haunt. I felt an amazing sense of relief when I saw #ENTOMBED supporting an atrocious series of events, & keeping the players engaged & enjoying their misery trip.
The party had recently reached Company status. Avoiding "the breakup", they could lose that status & reset their rep back to Fellowship. They erased 16 points of reputation on one swoop. +
Unrest triggers milestones that make the party have to face a conflict. They were found in a situation where if the cleric of the 3-headed-god did *anything*, he was likely to die, & if they increased their unrest, one of the PCs would be forced to leave the party. There was one alternative tho:+
The rest of the group has chosen to "make or break", which is a move that adds to their unrest, while the sorcerer kept trying to improve his rolls using "black magic", another move that adds to their unrest. Reasonably, they choose to escape. They get out of the dungeon with ~10 unrest.
The ghostly priest attacks with a humongous scepter, dealing crushing damage, which ignores some kinds of armor. The cleric of the 3HG takes a bad hit, suffering a wound: collapsed thorax. The sorcerer doesn't fare better, getting an exposed fracture. The cleric of Nesra cannot heal them. +
The cleric of Nesra finds out that, guess what, the goddess won't give him powers to channel inside the temple she warned him not to go inside of. They also find that the only PC who can actually deal damage is the *other* cleric, who can invoke a blessed morningstar. The slay roll goes BAD. +
The party is resolving a wyvern problem in a frontier town. During the hunt, the cleric of Nesra failed a Miracle roll, which resulted on Branog, the patron god of the abandoned temple, taking notice of his intrusion. In no uncertain terms, Nesra warned the cleric not to go into that temple. +
@borntolosepodcast.bsky.social Ross' Isle of Dread Torchbearer party. I just love drawing traumatized adventuring weirdoes. Let me draw yours!
Ah yes, I found THE good line in Shadorun Dragonfall.
The revised version of the Chimera Skull Rattle has begun! #Torchbearer #TTRPG #dungeonCrawling
Last half hour for Fantasy in my Backyard! bit.ly/backyard-rpg Back-cover + Cover reveal, just missing @boxen.bsky.social layout magicks.
Some progress pics on the cover art for Fantasy on my Backyard. It's incredibly fun to grab cryptids, mythological creatures and folktale personages and place them in contemporary environments. I also savor the challenge of integrating my drawings on collage work. #ZineMonth
Year of the Horse [Woodprint I made on 2024]
Heyo! Check Fantasy in my Backyard, a urban fantasy map-making game. I'm gonna be making the cover, & if the campaign goes well, extra art. I got to participate in a playtest & it was really fun. Back it, so I can draw some urban monsters! bit.ly/backyard-rpg #ZiMo2026 #Zinetopia #Zinequest
Illustrations I made last month for a Món de Monstres adventure published by @melnegra.bsky.social, a fantasy TTRPG for kids. I tried to walk the line between fairitale illustration, adventure ttrpg, and make it a bit ugly and scary for good measure.
