"No terms except an unconditional and immediate surrender can be accepted.”
My eyebrows immediately raised, too. Color me skeptical of the guy whose initial answer is “it doesn’t matter what I said, & my identity doesn’t matter, either.”
Question: what are these little numbers to the left of each team name?
This CGSO by Doc.* *This was on a Wednesday, & I can’t find *anywhere* that this game was broadcast by ESPN. I might completely be making it up, but this is also a core memory for me
There is a subtlety & nuance to complex history that most don’t have the time to put in. Reading one article & coming up with the “Hitler loved the U.S.” take is easy. Reading like 15-20 books on a subject is difficult. It’s kind of like Brandolini’s Law.
It’s more nuanced than “America provoked Japan into attacking.” It’s saying that post-WWI decisions that America had a lot of influence over had consequences which led to the rise of a far-right, Imperial Japan. It’s a different than saying America’s FP towards Japan was the only causal factor.
Tbh I was looking at this: doesn’t chase or whiff a lot, doesn’t K a lot, conventionally above-average LF. His other numbers leave a lot of be desired, but previous reporting suggested they want someone with a different profile (sacrifice power for more OBP) than the other OF options.
