Dumb Robot Stuff
@dumbrobotstuff
robots are pretty cool, I like making them too
Full video explanation on my Terminator Techmarine is now up, check it out
Making a start on turning some of the armageddon marines into black templars I'm going to (try to) keep it relatively simple, especially since I like the base model's style, I've just got a few ideas for details on my mind that I want to see if I can turn into a reality
I definitely agree, we've gotten glimpses at that type of thing in art, which gives me hope we'll get models eventually
Sci-fi knights are a style I quite like, which is why it was a go-to for my recent electro-priest alternative I've made a few different miscellaneous minis in that vein, even outside of my black templars, for things like knight pilots, skitarii and a unique sister of battle
got more of the bigger base parts sorted: layer of corkboard, always works well for a fancy character so they stand a little taller, with a channel in that for pipes/wires and some industrial pattern plasticard on top, with some tastefully exposed underlayer
starting to figure out the base, and I know I want my Thulia electrocuting/disintegrating some necron (which is why I added the piece to the bottom of her staff earlier), so I chopped up a spare warrior for the unlucky victim
Can you tell both my big custom terminators started as the same model? They were easy-to-build terminator captains from the leviathan box, that you could sometimes get pretty cheap separately, a good starting point if you're already going to be customising a lot
But no Togusa's revolver yet I love how a lot of the matebas look, especially the 2006m. He mentions the 2007, so I hope that means we get to see a version in this shows style later
as if the style wasn't enough, once they brought out the grease I knew it was being faithful to Shirow's vision
my wallpaper has been a frame from the movie for years, but the new scenery is giving it a run for it's money
The new ghost in the shell is an absolute joy to watch, it's colourful, cartoonishly expressive, jazzy, beautiful to see in motion, and full of some great mechanics
Here's my Electro-Knight A conversion/variant of an electro-priest, swapping out some parts of the original design I didn't like for more armoured, sci-fi knight elements
starting on adding a bunch of details now all her big parts are in place adding a few optics to make use of the real-estate on the big shoulders, and re-working some of her existing bits for a servo-skull controller for the big gun
I'm no fancy photographer and don't know much about proper lighting so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I've got a pretty easy/cheap setup, for normal lighting I use a wide desk-lamp that's always close to my (phone-)camera, then for the colour I use this type of "tofu-light"
Thanks, the poster one was just trying to copy one from the movie I always liked, then the terrain was just playing about trying to find what looked good, having stuff in the foreground and background, plus some coloured lighting coming in at an angle to hit some of the surfaces
I've taken inspiration from GitS for my admech before (my movie poster sicarian and tachikoma-onager spidertank), but the style and designs of the setting are so good I always wanna do more a similar manga cover sicarian, or puppetmaster torso in some terrain maybe?
I'm loving the poster for the next Ghost in the Shell episode just look at all those beautiful wires, I feel like I should be taking notes on it for admech detailing
This one? It's a horus heresy imperial fists tartaros praetor (the old version of the mini since it got an update/re-pose) that I just painted in black templar colours
tried drybrushing some white on the electricity to brighten it a little more and then did the rest of the stuff for the base, just a bit of cleanup and highlights left
top-mounted the gun and started adding smaller details, I also found a way to do the shoulder armour I like way more I did get darkmech stalkers to specifically bulk/armour her up more to match her lore of being an archmagos of ordo reductor, a war/combat focused admech division
The angry expression of the mk7(/8) helmet really gives marines a lot of character, I often swap some into squads I build I'm glad that style of faceplate is working it's way back in more with the some of the newer marines, especially the armageddon ones
testing out armour options, thinking of going with the bigger shoulder parts of the left but the face-optics of the right
Onto painting, I was split between the martian red of the art and my usual admech's scheme, but I do specifically want to test how some light blue electric will look against my admech's grey and orange for something I may add to my thulia, so that's what I'll be going with
