Rejected idea for the eventual Giant Robot Hellboy collection. I still like the idea of it, if not the execution. Obviously the scale differential is all wrong so it fails anyway.
Cover art and embarrassing reference photos for Jay &Silent Bob #4 from 1998, I am oooold.
It’s real! I received a couple of advice copies of Giant Robot Hellboy Returns today, turned out great! Thanks to Dave Stewart for making me look good, @benstenbeck.bsky.social for his alt cover, Clem Robins for his lettering and of course @mikemignola.bsky.social for coming up with the thing :)
I forgot to share this inky Gruagach from the end of last year, I think it shows how well the @bossfightstudio.bsky.social figure compares. #hellboy
Last but not least, the Hellboy ensemble from @bossfightstudio.bsky.social, take a bow!
A few more pics of @bossfightstudio.bsky.social Hellboy range tomorrow, my iPad feels like it’ll melt in the heat 😳 Andrew, this video is for you :)
Lobster Johnson! @bossfightstudio.bsky.social have done a great job of capturing the aesthetic of these characters #hellboy
More from @bossfightstudio.bsky.social… Hellboy! Seriously good articulation.
So I had a rather exciting delivery yesterday from those purveyors of finely crafted articulated vinyl miniatures @bossfightstudio.bsky.social I was keen to get my hands on these from the moment I saw them teased, and it was worth the wait ❤️🔥#hellboy
Too much noise around the studio with carpets being laid so I drew what unintentionally looks like an alt Hellboy: The Fury cover!
‘OTT noodly synth wankery’ is possibly my brand… but I know what you mean. Discovered this one quite recently and played it, a lot.
Ancient History 1/2 5 covers I painted for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. Nice to see decent scans of the art, painted in 1997. When laid out the comics more or less joined into a single piece. They’re for auction shortly, I don’t benefit but if it’s your bag... www.comiclink.com/Auctions/ite...
I just had the pleasure of reading a preview of Hidden Springs #1, I enjoyed it a lot. Coccoon meets The Dream Team with Kaiju action thrown in, but funnier. It’s by @robwilliams71.bsky.social , Nil Vendrell Berta,Sas Forelland & Simon Bowland, published by @darkhorse.com and FOC is April 6
So I was going to photograph this in stages as I inked it but it all happened so fast (and loose) that all that went out of the window.
One of several covers for Giant-Sized Criminal, out next Wednesday from Ed Brubaker & @seanphillips.bsky.social Sean’s initial cover design mooted a Xmas Special so I took one of his characters and made him Bad Santa, now he’s just bad!
I’ll be @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social again tomorrow, you can find me at table D 29 in the 2000AD Hall, also signing at 1:30 in the Comixology Hall :)
If you’re @thoughtbubblefestival and want to find me I am currently at Laurence Campballs table A15 in the Comixology hall!
It’s an old photo but this is me, a bit greyer and worn. I’d rather not organise anything until I’ve had a chance to meet up with my dealer later
NINE COMIC BOOKS THAT SHAPED ME. Even as I post this I know I’m missing stuff. Ah well. And yes, I’m cheating including The Studio, sue me, it was pretty fundamental. 2000ad covers so much important stuff, Halo Jones, McMahons Slaine and Sooner or Later by Milligan & McCarthy. Genius, all
The one that got away… I found around 50 sheets of cover sketches and notes for the second Shade the Changing Man omnibus, most of which I hear are being included. All except this one, lost at the back of the vault. It’s not directly a cover sketch but it is still a nice drawing, so here you go.
