Odd user of words. Sociopolitics. Culture. (He/Him) South African.
There's a Netflix animated series that originally aired for two seasons from '21, called: "Inside Job". I recently rewatched it after going: c'mon? Surely not. I was, to use a white people word: flabbergasted.. at how accurate similarities were to what the US is, in 2026.
That Arsenal fan is lucky that they're not a Manchester United fan. I initially chuckled at this, and thought it's ridiculous. But, then I reminded myself of the point in time of the world reality we're at, and it didn't not make sense?
During a time when the everything of the world has been put to shit by a bunch of vile old, white, greedy men: this Artemis II trip to the moon has been a delight. It's all connected, of course. But, a moment in time.
I watched the Louis Theroux 'Into the Manosphere' documentary, and.. Jesus H. Christ? I'm glad I didn't have these willfully insecure, weak-minded man-child men as heroes when I was maturing into what my definitions of being a man would become.
Hold the phone? A government doing governance well by shielding consumers from the choices of willfully ignorant, bigoted and greedy old white men? It's possible? Fascinating.
At this moment in time, I'd imagine a lot of politicians across the board may have difficulty understanding what it is Manuela Bergerot did here? I'll clear it up for them. It's called: having a backbone. Having a backbone.
I don't observe Valentine's Day — but, if *you* do, as an idea, it is meant to be based in the concept of love. So, I hope that if you do [observe it] — it is that for you. In a sincere way. We can all do with sincere love right about now, yeah?
I've been rewatching The Office (US) and with the everything of everything right now, it's so comforting? I'm glad it got created.
At various moments in time, we're experiencing life at different levels of difficulty. Yours isn't worse. Mine isn't worser. They're different. And, that's okay. It's, still real. And, it's okay to feel.
I've been seeing versions of the "Board of Peace" being illustrated. And, on *that* basis, they do the job: cartoons are a form of art. But, also: I don't want us to detach from reality. These are real human beings [with vested interests] *choosing* to be obsequious minions.
At every level of progress in society, nothing gets done without women. Nothing about life *is*, without women. It is therefore not only unconscionable but simply idiotic to disregard the concept of equality as if you're currently in the 1950s.
The first Nobel Peace Prize was officially awarded in 1901. In 2026, a petulant, enabled & coddled president has coerced his way to ''accepting'' the award. The Norwegian Nobel Committee had to officially make it clear that this is not how things work. This is where we're at.
One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this. — El Akkad
Ever since Iraq, there's been a running joke on the Internet, whenever oil is discovered somewhere on the planet — that it is "about to receive some democracy". And, over the past 48 hours the cloak of amusement has just been completely removed through Venezuela, hasn't it?
As important as it is to acknowledge all the [wilful] injustice in the world, we need moments of reflection to remind ourselves that goodness, too — exists, and that *it* ought to be our guiding light. If you're observing Diwali, may it be a pleasant experience to you & yours.
Today is World Mental Health Day. A moment in time to raise awareness to the fact that, amongst other things, 'feelings' in- and of themselves, aren't 'bad' or, that they make you seem 'weak'. You get to be human. Constructively, and beautifully, You.
Suicide is not selfish. If anything, it is a tragedy - brought on, in a lot of instances, by the weight of depression: a mental illness. Prevention through constructive treatment, is an option. Destigmatization thereof is a healthy starting point.
I'm always conflicted observing Women's Day. When you look at our socioeconomic reality, women are not respected, are they? So, I see value in acknowledging moments towards it becoming a common practice. I have hope. Like an Ngoyi, a Joseph, a Moosa, and a Williams-De Bruyn.
The truth is that we are not yet free; we have merely achieved the freedom to be free, the right not to be oppressed. We have not taken the final step of our journey, but the first step on a longer and even more difficult road. — Nelson Mandela
