Make Rankeillor Street level and everything will be better.
I’m enjoying many of the turns of phrase in Jessie Kesson’s “The White Bird Passes”, but this use of “foosty guff” is especially pleasing.
I am assuming that this is some Spotify AI abomination and not a late career attempt by Sonic Boom and Jason to pay off their mortgages with a crappy pop ballad. I’d imagine they can get their lawyers onto this.
There’s no good reason, but it feels like this picture of the sand at Portobello beach should have the ripples going horizontally.
Cochem. The grottiest station I’ve seen in years. But a lovely location by the Moselle. There were deer or goats on the slopes above the tracks.
Marchmont Road crossing closed without instruction / diversion. There may be temp lights further up. #EdTravCyc
NC 1 crossing at Buccleuch Street out of order for road works. #EdTravCyc#
Burntisland is disappearing and I should have brought a brolly. The Ormelie Tavern seems like a safe haven.
🎶walking down the King’s Road…🎶 … there was one misplaced slater crawling away.
I agree. Not wild land here, but green space; the landscapers on this industrial estate cut away years of ivy last month just as food was scarcest for wildlife. Now the bare ground is trod on and compacted as a makeshift path and is unlikely to re-green any time soon.
One of those mornings with lots to look at on the strand line. Dead seabirds, egg cases, shells, cuttlefish bones etc.
Hey! Have you heard this band from Seattle? mudhoney.bandcamp.com/album/superf...
The car showroom in Portobello is treating late night walkers to Cronenberg’s “The Dead Zone” on their enormous TV.
After passing by for many years I find myself in Wilkie’s Bar and Lounge in Leith. What a great pub. Quiet (it’s Sunday night) but the ideal layout for a tenement corner.
Quite an author’s note at the end of “The Empusium” by Olga Torkarczuk. I’ve read some great books this year; but this, just at the right time, the dark tail-end, might just be the best of them.
Drivers can now keep on parking on the road for free to save themselves a two minute walk from the parking spaces. No incentive to swap their dirty ICE vehicles for EVs.
