Evening #RunningPunks. Wasn’t finished in time for the Thursday night hills session with the D100 Runners, so just went for a random trundle. Random selection of Ginger Wildheart tunes pumping through my ears 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Mixing up routes again for a bit of variety. Left knee got a bit twingey, so eased up in the final third. The ankle-breaker rutted riverpath probably didn’t help. Fierce tunes from The Scratch - Pull Like A Dog 🤘
Evening #RunningPunks. Out for another hills session with the Dengie 100 Runners. Loads more joined us this evening, perhaps a record turnout for the hills. Went a bit further and found it harder tonight, but got it done! 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Could only find a garden version of the RP heron this morning but I spot an egret. Powered along by early 90s metal this morning from The Almighty and Judas Priest 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Finally back out for a Dengie 100 Sunday Social. Can’t remember when I last managed to make it to one of these. Really good to run with others at their pace. A bit of solo run time to the meet-up and back allowed me some time to indulge some Enter Shikari - Lose Yourself 🤘
Evening #RunningPunks. Decided to finally get back to doing hill sessions with the Dengie 100 Runners. We don’t have much that you can call hills round here so we did A LOT of up and down the steep hump. Can’t think of a session that I have simultaneously loved and hated this much. 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Felt like I was seizing up a bit after the busy weekend so I wanted to get out for some easy miles. Managed the full loop which was a nice surprise. Positive tunes from Frank Turner - Be More Kind 🤘
What a weekend #RunningPunks. Invited by a friend to join his squadron for the Spitfire Scramble, a 24hr running event from midday Saturday to midday Sunday. The 7 of us managed to keep a runner on the track throughout the 24hrs, achieving a total of 30 laps, between us running around 150 miles 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Had to do an extra lap around the block on principle, as I was at 4.99 miles. Unleashed my inner Theresa May <shudder> by running through a field of wheat. Pretty certain that isn’t actually breaking the law though as there’s a well-maintained path through the middle of it 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Took a heatwave break last week and while it’s not exactly cool out there, it felt more manageable today. Headphones are dying, so only managed to get a brief selection from Gary Moore - Scars before I got to listen to my own laboured breathing. 🤘
Afternoon #RunningPunks. Last holiday run before we head home tomorrow. 32C this afternoon, but luckily my run, on cool, shaded bridleways and bike tracks, started and ended at a swimming lake. 4 miles of undulating winding fun followed by a cool dip 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. More French holidays running shenanigans (Run-anigans…? That could be a word, right…?) Decided to try the river path south, but it ran out fairly quickly and the road led me in a loop back to the town for another shot on the chain-boat crossing. Tunes from Dessie Magee 🤘
En vacances #RunningPunks. Discovered that the river crossing at our gite for the week is a small chain-boat platform, so I absolutely had to use that first thing for a run up one side of the river to the next town (which has a bridge - luxury!!!) and then back down the other side. Just beautiful 🤘
A fairly flat there-and-back-again route for a change #RunningPunks. Beautiful blue skies out there this morning and still cool after torrential downpours yesterday. Pushed it a bit on the first half, then jeffed it on the return leg. Sonic drive from CJ Wildheart - The Robot, and Siege 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Lovely and cool out there, plus an unexpected Thames barge moored at the White Hart pub. Perfect morning for a run to the pompous and overblown Moron Police - Pachinko 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. A welcome email this morning, announcing the first of hopefully several gigs to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the phenomenal Baby Chaos’s Love Your Self Abuse, meant there was only one soundtrack I could choose for today’s run 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Just a short and easy jaunt around the BoC ParkRun route this morning. Tunes from the mighty Eureka Machines - Champion The Underdog 🤘
BoC #ParkRun time #RunningPunks but today was marshalling time again, and boy was it a hot one! Managed to squeeze in a couple of half-hearted overheated miles by detouring my route home. Random shuffle on the playlist threw out some gems, including Obey Robots which I haven’t listened to in ages 🤘
I regularly run this same 10k loop and I try and alternate between the clockwise loop on the left and the anticlockwise on the right. The latter is always harder without some well-placed tunes to boost me up the final hill.
Morning #RunningPunks. Actually feel like I’m starting to make some progress. Fastest 10k for months and it felt comfortable. Greatly aided by Enter Shikari - Lose Your Self (and a bit of A Flash Flood Of Colour because the former is too short) 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Not quite the 10k route but close. So much cooler today, thank goodness. Excellent tunes from the fantastically odd Moron Police - The Propaganda Machine 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. One of those perfect runs - no destination, no targets, just enjoying the world and today at least, even the people out there enjoying it too. Tunes from Gary Moore - Dark Days In Paradise (didn’t consider the irony before I put the earphones in)🤘
BoC #ParkRun time once again #Runningpunks although it appears I hit the Start button twice. Definitely ran for more than 1s (about 1,500 seconds apparently). The excellent Moron Police - Defenders Of The Small Yard providing motivational tunes this morning 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. The knee saga continues unfortunately 😔 Saturday’s ParkRun seems to have flared up a twinge again. Deliberately short and slow run this morning to test it a bit. Grey and rainy weather greatly enhanced by the excellent Pull Like A Dog from The Scratch 🤘
BoC ParkRun time again #RunningPunks. First one for two months and boy, that was tough! Shocking how out of practice I am. Nearly two minutes behind where I was at back in early March. Tunes were good though, and the irony of Walk being the finish line song was not lost on me 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Absurdly chilly for a mid-May morning, but at least there wasn’t a massive hailstorm like yesterday. The knee is definitely improving. Nearly hit 10k time target today. Tunes from the excellent Baby Chaos - demo versions of what became Skulls Skulls Skulls Show Me The Glory 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Keeping up with the Sunday Social has given me a bit of a boost so I decided I should squeeze in an easy Tuesday morning run to see how the knee is holding up. Seems good so far. Gorgeous out there, accompanied by surprisingly positive vibes from Frank Turner - Be More Kind 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. Back on the Dengie 100 Sunday Social for the first time since February I think. Pleased to have some company to test the knee against and provide some entertaining and distracting chat. Brief set of tunes on my way down to meet up from The Scratch - Pull Like A Dog 🤘
Morning #RunningPunks. The treat of daily blue skies appears to have retreated for now, but it’s lovely enough out there. Still frustrated that recovery takes so long, but I am out there and making progress. Tunes from Pantera - Cowboys From Hell 🤘
