There was a Taylor event at the Grammy Museum in LA last night! Taylor attended, spoke about songwriting, sang 3 songs, and shared her wisdom: “Enthusiasm can protect you from anything.”

“MY NIGHT WITH TAYLOR SWIFT- The Grammy Academy hosted a Taylor Swift talk tonight. The invite just mentioned being hosted by Academy President Harvey Mason Jr., but it was like a ‘Wink IYKYK’ thing.
Taylor came onstage and shared her beautiful stories of how she writes songs and where she gets her endless inspiration from. Then she played a few tunes for the 100 or so people there. It wasn’t even sold out, there were empty seats.
I honestly am not a ‘Swiftie,’ though her success is as big as it gets. The biggest Grammy winning female in history. Afterward there as a reception and I had a sweet, and kinda nerdy songwriter chat with her for a long time. A lot of people were trying to get in and talk with her, but she had a laser attention and when it was on me, the world was shut off around us.

Here’s some songwriting nuggets I wrote down:
1) She told the audience “Enthusiasm can protect you from anything.”
At the reception I shared her the word ‘Enthusiasm’ actually comes from Ancient Greece, meaning ‘the divine within’ or ‘possessed by divine inspiration.‘“

“2) She plays a spinet piano on tour.
I mentioned to her that Paul McCartney also plays a spinet. She told me she likes a smaller piano so she can see over it and look around at everyone onstage and in the crowd.

3) ‘YES AND-‘ is a big thing for her when songwriting and recording. Trying an idea, but being open to exploring music with another point of view.

4) Show up to work even then the ‘Idea Fairy,’ as she calls her muse of inspiration, isn’t around. It sometimes shows up when you do.

I was impressed she stayed to talk to everyone who attended. As I report this, she is likely still speaking to everyone at the Grammy Museum giving every person very present, quality time.”

Hello, @nymag.com and @vulture.com , I recommend you address your writer Rachel Handler and all the editors who checked her most recent article. The article was inappropriate and you need to fix the issues now to preserve any integrity you have left.

I’m writing because I woke up and read a very unprofessional piece by your writer Rachel Handler. In it she addresses Taylor Swift and the “The Life of a Showgirl” album, but there was little to no artistic critique in what she wrote. Ms. Handler instead chose to make petty insults and ableist predictions about the potential children of Swift and Kelce.

I could not believe my eyes when I read the line that Swift plans “to start a neighborhood full of children with inherited CTE.” New York Magazine is a respected publication, so how was that line able to make it beyond the first draft? Surely NY Mag has enough skilled editors to notice such a harmful, ableist comment, right?

CTE is a serious medical condition, not a joke for Handler’s petty vendetta against Swift, suggested from previous articles she wrote. This wasn’t even the first time Handler used CTE as a punchline. If you wouldn’t publish such jokes about children potentially being born autistic or with Down Syndrome, then why does NY Mag have a different set of morals for CTE?

I notice that many publications today seem to change their moral standards in relation to Taylor Swift’s life choices. When other successful woman, like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, commit to marriage and potential children, the media celebrates them. For an unknown reason, NY Mag writers like Handler and other so-called journalists raise up pitchforks to revolt against Swift desiring such a future. New York Magazine does not need such inconsistent standards.

Taylor Swift is a real human being, as will be any children she has in the future. Her family members and friends are humans as well. All deserve respect. Speculating about her potential children having a serious neurological disorder, and worse— laughing about it, is indefensible. Your entire staff of editors and Handler should be ashamed that this was published.

I will not support your magazine in the future unless you address this situation and apologize. Address Handler’s unacceptable comments and make it clear: is New York Magazine a publication that laughs about neurological disorders or not? Is New York Magazine a publication focused on ethical journalism of integrity or not?

I just want to say that I love my church… We are small (an average of 35-40 people each week), but we can accomplish a lot. We are offering daily meals available for the community because congregants available on weekdays stepped up.
