Early detection is key to responding effectively to respiratory virus threats. We have just published new 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 to help countries across Europe detect changes in virus circulation earlier and build a 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀.

Our review found that older age, particularly among adults aged 65+, is consistently associated with a higher risk of severe RSV outcomes and mortality. Among underlying conditions, chronic lung diseases - including COPD - showed the most consistent associations with severe disease. #Vaccination
