Just gonna say, he's a young player and still looking to find consistency in the EPL, but the raw materials are all there. #NUFC
Found this on Twitter too. I think Pickford is being greedy re: Line of Sight personally.
When you compare to a similarly powerful shot where he didn't take the step... oh well *sighs*
Some 0.36 Post Shot xG on this one. It was hit very well and going through bodies but I shared Bellinghams frustrations about how far from the corners this was.
Watching the equaliser last night, just as Enzo receives the ball Pickford takes a step to his left and his weight moves. Just enough to make what is a save you'd expect him make, harder. #WorldCup
Dumb and Dumber meme... So you're telling there's a chance... #NUFC PS. there's not, but seriously he's Congolese by parental heritage
Re: Murphy & a potential move to Everton. I think it's probably time for him to go, but I am worried about so many senior players going at once. Under Murphy has been lowkey great. - Nearly 9,000 mins, 100 games - 27 assists - 20 goals Nearly a goal or assist every other game #NUFC
The largest part of passing is currently about retention, which ends up going sideways/backwards rather than adding a heap of attacking value. Brings the number down.
Generally, I think the bet Wilson is putting down here is that Steur has shown enough physical potential to cope with the EPL while also having enough on-ball ability to project like Kees Smit. How much he'll contribute this season is questionable, but it's a marked shift in #NUFC 's transfers.
Without the ball, his pressure numbers look more than good enough when adujsted for possession. He will be asked to be more aggressive at #NUFC but I don't see this as a problem. 7/
One thing he genuinely excels at is deep progressions – moving the ball into the final third via passing or carrying – Steur is hitting nearly 7 a game which is very exciting for a team that likes to play with verticality like #NUFC 6/
You can see a bunch of these things come together on his tape. There's a mix of Tonali AND Guimaraes here. But you can see the pace of play isn't the same as the EPL, so the learning curve will be pretty steep. #NUFC 5/
He can be a little lightweight when under pressure – which isn't a surprise given his age – but his passing numbers under pressure are good, and he's fundamentally an excellent dribbler too. Playing alongside Bruno G to learn how to leverage his body, he could be very special #NUFC 4/
Ball progression is Steur's clearest asset. The midfielder moves the ball into the attacking third via a pass or carry at a well above average rate, consistently pushing play forward. Passing through defensive lines is also a consistent strength. #nufc 3/
As an 18-year-old, he's unlikely to waltz straight into the first 11, but physically speaking his data is really quite encouraging. For a young lad, playing in a league not noted for it's intensity, these physical numbers will have made a lot of teams notice. #NUFC 2/
So Sean Steur is joining #NUFC on a 5-year deal apparently, for about 23m GBP. Sean Steur 🔴 is an 18-year-old Dutch ball-carrying central midfielder. He's both-footed, 183 cm tall, and a top talent in the Netherlands. Here he is vs. Tonali 🔵 with the caveat about league strength. 1/ 🧵
Haaland has a surprisingly mid record vs. #NUFC. Not saying we should bust out Dan Burn, because he has no meep, but he can match him physically in other ways.
Weeeewwww boy. Watched that game in a garden full of Mexican fans. As tests of character go, 50+ minutes at the Azteca with 10 men and a partisan home crowd, is at least an 8 on the difficulty scale. We advance to face the 🤖 #worldcup
Similar shape, Minteh been playing on the right, creation numbers go wild (small sample) when he's on the left. Minteh stronger generally I think at this stage of his career
Personally, I think that the latter option may happen after he's been here a while because his shot volume is low, and even though he scored 5 last season, from what I've watched, his shooting lacks consistency and power. This may improve as he develops his strength 8/
