Cllr Ed Lamb
@edwardlamb
Green Party councillor, Wirral. Co-leader of Green group of councillors. 1. Mainly chat about transport on this website. 2. You can ask me about other things! 3. Often wrong about stuff. Climate // Transport, Health, Public Realm 🚴♂️🚊🌎
Often see private drives installed with slopes - I've commented on a few applications in my ward. I need to write to officers to ensure we are checking this stuff. This example from Haarlem, Netherlands, shouldn't be too hard to achieve - but are we too far gone in the UK? I sure hope not!
We're proud to demonstrate our support for active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) in our ward, and take the time to speak with residents about the benefits to everyone. Cllrs of other colours are full of doom and gloom. Someone should tell 'em that this stuff is very popular 🤷♂️
It took me three years, but finally found some funding to get new cycle shelters installed at two of my local primary schools 😎
if you think petrol is expensive wait until you hear about TOOTHPASTE 🪥🤯 (and still I see people idling outside schools with their windows down)
I'll be appearing at tonight's @activetravelcaf.bsky.social, where I'll tell the story getting our 'Playing Out' motion through council, and on the work programme. Tune in! activetravelcafe.org.uk
idea for future LinkedIn post. what Animal Crossing has taught me about local politics and land use planning
The School Run™ Still my main political motivator. A disgrace. An embarrassment. Both hilarious and tragic in equal measure. Fix this, fix a lot of things.
Apparently I'm target market material for private jet flights with my dog. Real late-stage-capitalism stuff, lads. Great work 🫠
That's right, Martin. Working well! Bracken Lane getting more traffic so now work needed. Safer crossing points to Storeton Woods even more important
few things quite as satisfying as having a bike shed clear out 🤷🏼♂️ (now with added hooks)
Cycling to @chesterzoo.bsky.social is surprisingly easy! Someone should spread the word 👀 Fantastic morning spent learning about the biodiversity crisis and how local schools are responding 😎
Interested to see if we drive more now that the guilt has gone. Hopefully not - still defaulting to bike, bus & train but we'll see how that goes. Joke photo for lols, but we're driving on sunshine now folks. More to follow...
We got an EV! ⚡ As a family we've worked hard to reduce the amount we drive, but still a car is required for certain trips. My guilt over burning fuel, and the ridiculous human/financial cost of the US/Israeli fiasco finally pushed us over the edge. I'll share thoughts on the car below...
Good thing about taking an empty cargo bike out is that you can make an impromptu purchase of a bag of top soil! And I bumped into a pal and we had a coffee and a catchup. Pro cycling Pro social Pro local business
Started up with this stuff again last night. Local politics is very weird. Very proud to co-lead our plucky bunch of Green councillors on Wirral for another year ✅
