Having a Basset Hound means that you exist in either of two states: “I love you so much I would do die for you;” or “that’s it, you’re going on Gumtree”. There is no in between.
It was Humphrey’s first birthday on Monday past and his daycare threw him a party with his friends.
Okay, it turns out that Basset Hounds can move way faster that they should be able to on those chunky Oompa Loompa legs.
Some of you from The Other Place may remember my lovely Labradors, both of whom died some months ago. I miss them terribly, but there is some joy to share. Please meet Humphrey.
Left school with a few standard grades age 16. Got my HND age 23. Law degree at 28. Started my (current) career at 35. PhD at 36. Became a mother at 37. Today, at 40, I became a homeowner. At times my “lateness” was frustrating, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
And then there were none. The house feels so empty. Bracken and Willow were very good dogs.
It’s been a while… but in any case I am pleased to report that, as I start what must be my 5th contract here, I have finally found my way to HR unassisted.
