While they're paid dust in the canon, I love the idea of an entire underground civilization and how they might've adapted in Gelmorra. The idea of holdouts in a civilization that could not hope to self-sustain after mass desertion/assimilation has some great room for gothic horror interpretations.

Eti doesn't exactly fear abandonment: death will separate us all for a time, relationships, like bodies, decay and pass into new things. But they are afraid that if they stop making themselves a commodity in others' lives that the people they love will move on. They fear being dull or inadequate.

Etienne's mother was from a family of textile merchants, specifically batik, reflecting my own mother's Indonesian heritage and a family business her parents once had. Part of their storyline has been trying to find out more about that side of their family.

I mean it when I say I've been around forever. Checking, I initially rolled Eti and got this achievement 2014, but then took a two-year hiatus. I count March 2016 as their true 'birthday.'
