Models by CarolaFunder. Printed by me in standard resin. Painted with acrylic paint, alcohol inks, and pan pastels. Sealed in matte finish. I'm very pleased with them for now, but reserving the option to come back to them later after I build up my painting skills more.

A small herd of painted resin horses, just a few inches tall at the shoulder, stand upon a plastic organizer. There are 4 poses: standing and looking straight ahead, standing and gently looking to the left, grazing, and a larger draft horse standing strong and alert.
Each is painted uniquely, with coats in shades of black, gray, white, and browns.

Recently returned from a road trip that included a visit to my childhood home. I needed the ocean and redwoods. <3 It felt deeply healing. I need to find a slice of quiet nature here in northern rural Utah, and I don't know of anything that comes close. God, I miss trees. And water.

There are large burls on the tree in the foreground. Ferns grow, but the needles on the ground prevent grass from sprouting. Sunlit foliage peeks between the trunks.

Theres not anything specific on weed like there is for coffee, tea, alcohol, and tobacco. Its not mentioned in Doctrine&Covenants Section 89 unless you're being cheeky (image attached). Its frowned upon as a mind-altering drug, but can given a pass if prescribed by a doctor for a reason.

I've had a lot of fun designing these bookmarks. I know bookmarks are simple, but it's satisfying to have my #DigitalArt actually exist in the real world in a way I can hold it in my hands. Digital paintings in #Rebelle 8, layout and final touches in #Affinity.

I've been learning Nomad Sculpt for a while, but took a break to make a quick 2D partial horse sketch in the hope that it will help me sculpt the 3D shapes of horse heads better. They're such weird animals. #DigitalArt made with #Rebelle 8+ #Affinity.

I'm enjoying #NomadSculpt a lot. But. I know I'm not at full potential because there are entire menus I'm not touching. It's *super* easy for me to jump between 2D #art programs and I have to keep reminding myself that I can't know everything immediately here when there's a whole new D involved.

The figure appears to be finished to an acceptable level of detail for 3d printing, though most of the skin is smooth, so realistic textures will need to be applied with paint.

Ok, I’m just starting out, and I need to learn more about how resolution is handled, but I did make a thing in Nomad Sculpt! And even though the file is ridiculously big, it did export a printable STL to try with a FDM printer. I’m excited to learn how to use this better!

It absolutely confused me driving from northern Utah to Phoenix for the first time. I wasn't expecting it. The things you learn as you travel. :)

The Navajo Nation extends into all 3 states' borders and is colored green to indicate it observes daylight saving time. The Hopi Reservation, located entirely within the Navajo Nation, is colored gray to indicate it does not observe it.

Utah and New Mexico are colored green (daylight saving time observed) and Arizona is colored gray (does not observe daylight saving time).

The image demonstrates that even within similar longitudes and in the same mountain time zone, not all regions always agree what time it is.

#ArtAdventCalendar I missed a few days, but I'm still trying to participate. :) #DigitalIllustration of a Christmas beetle. Some of them actually look metallic. Based on an old pencil sketch from years ago. I'm still trying to get used to the new layout of #Affinity, and liking it so far!

#ArtAdventCalendar This is an older one, made about this time of year, when Autumn is transitioning into Winter. There are mushrooms, acorns, and those little cones/catkins that trees like alders drop. #TraditionalArt using ink, chalk pastel, and colored pencils on toned paper. About 4"x6" iirc.

Another #DigitalPainting! This time it's a raccoon. When I started this, there were still leaves on the ground instead of snow. Started in #Rebelle 8 and finished in #Affinity. Jumping in on the #ArtAdventCalendar on Day 4 and hoping to participate a little more.

Happy World Whale and Dolphin Day!

A light colored narwhal, with de-saturated indigo instead of the more natural darker gray seen in the wild, faces to the viewer's left and seemed to make eye contact. It has an upward-curving mouth that makes it seem friendly. The larger amount of white speckles makes it appear somewhere between a narwhal and a beluga in color.
Its tail is curved slightly downward, mid-swim. Unlike many other whales, the narwhal does not have a dorsal fin. It has a long spiraling tusk emerging from the front of its face.

The glowing white silhouettes of 3 narwhals emerge from the ocean to the surface, their tusks reaching towards the sky. The sky is a watercolor painting with blending pinks, blues, and green, referencing the enhanced photos of nebula taken by deep space telescopes. White opaque splatters imitate stars and distant galaxies. A single bright star in the upper right quadrant appears brighter and clearer than the rest.

The choppy ocean surface reflects the sky's colors. Icebergs float off in the distance but the water around the 3 narwhals is open.

Same struggle. It helps to make the space cozy, with a drink nearby. I try to minimize distraction, because holding a physical book isn't as comfortable as it used to be, making focus more difficult. (It gets physically painful to hold open for me, mostly). I'm considering a book holder like this:

It's a product that consists of a flat panel of wood suspended at about a 45 degree angle above a small tray by hinges (the hinges allow the panel to close down onto the tray like a lid when not in use). The wooden panel has a bottom ledge to rest an open book on and it has two springy arms to hold pages open. The suggested use shown is an open book spread open, pages held in place by the springy arms, with some highlighters, reading glasses, and bookmarks stored in the tray below. It is an object meant to be set upon a table or desk, as the edges are sharp and would not be comfortable to hold in one's lap.

Bottom right is a malayan tapir, resting on a cotton candy pink cloud-- a reference to its ties to sleep and dreams in mythology. Its coat is a striking black with a white midsection, similar to panda coloring.
