What is strange to me about this kind of chat is that Labour holds 59 seats in London and it has 11 seats on the GLA. Presumably the 2029 election will be close. Is Labour happy to just give these seats away?
Obviously there were a number of reasons for Starmer's unpopularity but I just don't think his government ever recovered from the winter fuel allowance. I saw interviews with Welsh voters who voted for Plaid for the first time in May 2026 because of it. Here's a word cloud from a year ago.

For years I've tried to copy Brigitte Bardot's casual style. She had this way of making outfits that would look plain on anyone else the height of chic. Her politics were appalling and represent everything decent people should oppose. She died a fascist in the end.
