We’re cutting business rates again to help support pubs in my constituency. This builds on the 15% reduction introduced this year, with a further 20% cut in the next financial year. This will help businesses keep more of what they earn, protect jobs and make pints cheaper for customers.

Labour has announced £8.4 billion to continue building the UK's next generation of nuclear-armed Dreadnought submarines. Built in the North West, the investment will generate 22,000 new apprenticeships by 2035. Labour is investing in security and our future.

Yesterday morning, it was a pleasure to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Westminster Hall with Reverends Sally Robinson, Gill Barnett, and Anne Gilbert, alongside my neighbouring MP, Paul Waugh.

Today, we remember the 52 innocent people who lost their lives and the hundreds more whose lives changed forever. We pay tribute to the victims, survivors, and emergency services for their extraordinary courage. Their memory endures, and so does our commitment against hatred.

Today marks two years as a Labour MP! Two years of delivering for my constituents of Heywood and Middleton North.

Earlier this week, I arranged for Fraser from Planet Play to meet the Chancellor at Number 11 Downing Street. Planet Play is one of many activity centres that will benefit from the Great British Summer Savings Scheme by making activities more affordable for local families.

Last week in Westminster: - I helped keep Whitehall accountable by asking if the Government plans to keep Manchester Piccadilly Underground Station. - I met with campaigners on birth defects from drugs. - I raised Road Safety in the Transport Committee.

This Armed Forces Week, we honour all who serve and sacrifice. I’d like to thank all of the veterans, cadets and families across Heywood and Middleton North - and the fantastic veterans organisations which do so much across our community. Today and always, thank you.

Yesterday in Parliament, I visited the Armed Forces Showcase, held as part of Armed Forces Week. It was great to meet serving personnel and recognise their dedication to defending our nation. It was also particularly interesting to discuss the next generation of aerial and underwater drones.
