Got a fab new sticker (and book!) this weekend at Autumn Leaves in Ithaca. Now I just need to find a good place to put it. (The sticker. The book goes on my shelf)
Happy 10th anniversary, EMB Editorial! So thankful for all the amazing clients (some pictured!) who have trusted me with their work, and all the wonderful independent editors who have given me community. Here’s to 10 more years!
Need my fellow millennial parents to know that Tim Gunn voices the butler (named Baileywick!) in this and he sounds *exactly* like himself. I really need him to say “make it work!” 😂
Loved this @moiradonegan.bsky.social essay on Elizabeth Cady Stanton, particularly the last line of the beliw excerpt. Relatable! www.newyorker.com/books/under-...
The new Google rewrite suggestions are unbelievably bad and stupid 🤦🏼♀️
Every September 11, I reread this wonderful @colsonwhitehead.com piece. It's my own personal memorial. It's about 9/11, but it's also about our city and how it changes. www.nytimes.com/2001/11/11/m...
Books I bought on my vacation! Portland, Maine is such a bookstore town and I love it 📚
Finished an edit yesterday so I finally went to pick up my @maris.bsky.social preorder! V excited to dive in 🔥
Writing snacks 😋 (I prefer Miller High Life, but the store was out) Daughter also left me a ninja turtle for good luck 💚
Sat down at my laptop last night *so* excited to start #1000wordsofsummer and found that I had written “finish” on a blank page in Scrivener, with no notes about what was supposed to go there. Helpful!! Still managed 1039 words, just not in that scene
Regret to inform you Gmail still thinks it’s a better writer than I am 🙄
Excuse me, Liz Moore did not outline God of the Woods?? That book is SO complex. HOW? My mind is blown! Via this NYT piece: pocket.co/share/0ba901...
This is the pile of books I bought in Portland last weekend at independent bookstores. Am I going to let that stop me from participating in Independent Bookstore Day this Saturday? Come on, you know the answer to that 📚
Together for 16 years, married for 10, and this remains my best relationship advice. (Normally I use names, but, you know, privacy)
Exciting news for mystery readers and writers! @groveatlantic.bsky.social @publisherslunch.bsky.social
Listen, everything feels like shit right now. You need to do something nice for yourself. My latest thing? Box of Andes mints in my desk. Highly recommended.
Happy pub day, Give Her Credit! If you’re a fan of recent history, especially women’s or financial history, this one is for you. Don’t just take my word for it - Kirkus called it “a fast-paced and riveting read…A fascinating history of a feminist triumph.”
Always makes me think of the fantastic opening to Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia: Thomasina: Septimus, what is carnal embrace? Septimus: carnal embrace is the practice of throwing one’s arms around a side of beef.
Ran into friend and author Paul French @chinarhyming.bsky.social at The Strand just now! Never gets old seeing books I edited in a bookstore.
