I am once again asking for help finding housing asap! I’m very hopeful that this will be my last scramble! 🤞🏻 In need of a sublet for August, preferably in #NorthVancouver or #WestVancouver because my current car isn’t capable of going further 🥴

August sublet in North or West Vancouver sought

Looking for a room or suite that is:

•Cat-friendly (she won’t leave my room, so other animals are fine)
•Clean and quiet
•Un/furnished—either is fine
•Non-smoking, no drugs and minimal alcohol consumption
•Laundry availability preferred
•Vegetarian/vegan would be a lovely bonus

Budget: Absolute max of $1300

About me:

•On disability, awaiting a low-income apartment
•41, vegetarian, clean (diagnosed OCD), have been pet sitting animals in their homes since 2015
•Non-smoker, no drugs, rare alcohol
•Quiet and have difficulties with sleeping due to constant pain, so often sleep at odd hours throughout the day

About kitty:

•Ruby will be 18 in August
•Indoor only
•Very well-behaved as well as timid (prefers to hide in our room); always uses her litter box, doesn’t scratch anything that isn’t given to her and never jumps on tables or counters
•Tolerant of other boundary-respecting animals (she sometimes accompanies me to dog sits), but has zero aggression regardless

Considerations:

Looking to remain on the North Shore because my current vehicle has a broken head gasket (among many other issues that fully disqualify it from being worth sinking money into fixing) and, while it is still running, it greatly struggles with going up hills and will overheat and even stall, occasionally in traffic. So I have only been driving it short distances with timed rests. I do NOT trust it to cross either bridge, given the unpredictability of their traffic conditions.

I have a GST/tax return coming August 6 that I will be using to purchase a new (used) vehicle.

I have applied for two below market apartments that are about to be available—the first of which I expected would have chosen people in time for August 1, but they are unfortunately still trying to establish their process, and the second of which I have reason to believe *will* be offered to me—so my hope is to then use my new-to-me car to just merrily move my things there from storage come September 1st.

If I don’t get either apartment, I will be using the car throughout August to go look at places further afield, such as Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam or Maple Ridge, where I am more likely to find an independent suite within my budget. I would have done this already if my car was properly drivable, but c’est la vie.

Weirdly, my cat just directed me to clean her litter box (it has already been cleaned today, and only had a small recent pee in it) before she would eat her dinner 😂 And she immediately retired to her bed after noshing, so I can’t say I comprehend it

I’m not sure I’ve ever gone to board a bus and realized I didn’t have my wallet, but sure enough just did it as I’m scrambling to understand how in THE FUCK translink thinks nearly 2hrs is an okay trip time/so I don’t miss 1/3of the songs I spent $120 on this Jimmy Eat World ticket for!
