You know you’ve reached a certain age when bands of your youth are playing at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. First time seeing Dinosaur Jr. live, second time for Band of Horses.
Once a year, I’ll join the medley my band does during Michael McDonsld’s I Kerp Forgettin’. Obviously that includes a bit of Warren G’s Regulate, and usually includes some of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme and Shoop! by Salt-n-Pepa.
Mother's Day on May 12, 2024, was the day mom took her final ambulance ride to the hospital, and she died 6 days later. This pic I took of her in 2005 remains one of my favorites. 🦥
This is brilliant, forcing a physical connection between you and your social media friends.
If you see this, post a concert photo that you took. Here's Ben Folds recording a live album with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.
Hopefully that’s the last I’ll have to hear about this meningioma, but the pathology report might take a month. I last needed a little light neurosurgery in the 1990s, and it was a different world back then. This time, I went under anesthesia early Friday morning, and I was home for lunch Sunday.
The app logo needs work, but I’m digging Acme, the new weather app from the creators of Dark Sky. #iOS
Oscar Peterson‘s version is better than Vince Guaraldi‘s version. I said what I said. Merry Christmas and happy holidays! 🎄
Nostalgia as a service? I absolutely did it to myself, playing with photo memory movie creation on my phone, but Apple Intelligence is more than happy to make me cry on the regular. That said, it’s pretty impressive.
Even after the sedative started to take hold, Oona reached for me. I miss her so much.
Having held my mom’s hand last year as she took her last breath, I imagined I’d be more prepared to hold Oona in my arms as she took hers. We brought her home less than a month before we got married in 2013.
Predictable results, but cool to see them lime this. #AppleMusic #Replay2025
Two kinds of Coke in glass bottles in the grocery store today. 8 oz or 12 oz. The little ones come in a 6 pack and the big ones come in a 4 pack. 48 oz in each. Want HFCS in yours? That’ll cost you more, for some reason. Not quite a taco truck on every corner, but I’ll take it.
I can’t have been the first to notice, but @bsky.app why’s that icon doing its own thing?
Nothing else about working from the office today was worthwhile, but this lunch was. ZZQ isn’t cheap, but it’s cheaper at the office.
Just one Kings allowed on No Kings day. #NoKings. Reposted with correct alt text.
Portland protest sign idea for those in need of inspiration. Put a bird on it. 🖕
The updated UI for iOS is starting to grow on me after a few revisions of the public beta. #iOS26
Poor Oona. Not only did this city cat have to take a drive out to the country today to see a specialist vet, but it looks like she's either got inflammatory bowel disease or small cell lymphoma. The two have similar symptoms. #catsky 🐈⬛

I’m feeling extremely fortunate to have seen his 150th performance at Madison Square Garden (the final one of his monthly residency shows) last July.
Still don’t understand this design choice in Apple’s Calendar iOS app. “Starts” is two characters longer than “Ends” but does the former really require that much padding? And don’t get me started (ha) on the two different date formats.
As Mother’s Day approaches and the promos go up all over the campus where I work, I’m grateful for this message from Open Table offering to let me opt out of their Mother’s Day marketing. MD 2024 was when my mom went into the hospital for the last time, and she died six days later.
Doing day job work from my hotel up here in Boston, but first a trip around the corner to pick up a coffee and some pastries.
