Yesterday was the first meeting of Colorado's bipartisan Medicaid Commission. In recent years, the costs of Medicaid have grown far faster than the TABOR cap allows. This is a structural problem that results in painful consequences to Colorado's more vulnerable, and something must change.

HB26-1202, my bill with Rep. Rutinel and Sen. Amabile, was signed into law this week. Every night, tens of thousands of Coloradans go to sleep without a safe place to call home. That is not acceptable, and I am proud that even in a difficult budget year we were able to do something about it.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the right of every person to live with safety, dignity, and belonging. There is still more work to be done to make sure everyone feels welcome, safe, equal, and free in Colorado, but each year we continue to make progress. Happy Pride!

SB26-042 was signed into law today. This bill ensures money that was never meant to count toward the TABOR spending limit does not count. This creates additional room in the budget next year to fund essential services like health care and education.

This year’s school finance act builds upon Colorado Democrats' mission to fully fund our schools, increase teacher pay and set our students up for a lifetime of success. The School Finance Act passed the House 57 to 8, and will be considered for final passage in the Senate tomorrow.

Today, Governor Polis signed the FY 2026-2027 state budget into law. This bipartisan budget protects K-12 education, health care, and universal preschool while making responsible reductions.

Today we passed HJR26-1027 to honor Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, along with 5 million others targeted by Nazi ideology. We remember them and honor the survivors who carried these stories forward.

HB26-1221 closes corporate loopholes, including limits on deductions for lavish executive salaries, and uses that revenue to create a new refundable tax credit for Colorado families with children.
