After my ADHD assessment I sat down on the couch to sob from relief and grief and who knows what all else, and Leo came running. Bless this chaos monster of a cat.
Did not expect to have to clear the back deck and shelter with the cats in the basement today
About 40 people have stopped by so far. Great to talk shop with the knitters, who understand without explanation why nothing on display is for sale. Steve the River Otter and Ernest Bunningway are a hit.
Finally blocked the Rose of the North shawl, five years after finishing it. #knitting
MizC’s great passion is gardening with native pollinators. She has been carving out a plot full of flowers from the two native plants nurseries between here and the city for several years now. Today was my first time at one. She and I may have egged each other on. Four new trees! A vine! Ferns!!!
The entire north shore looks like this. The mind boggles at the sheer volume of lilac bushes on this island. The scent wafts into your car as you drive past.
The first proper vegetable garden that I’ve ever had in my life. Scallions, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, snow peas, carrots, garlic, lettuce, spin, cucumbers, pole beans, broccoli, rhubarb, jalapeño, and tomatoes.
I finally got to bottle feed the lambs at Topsy Farms. Here’s one of the mamas.
My one purchase from Knit City (which I didn’t even attend) is finally dyed and on its way to me. Thank you to Julie at Genna Yarn in Quebec! She even gave it a second bath because she wasn’t happy with the results of the first. LOOK AT THIS YARN
I made a Dutch baby in the 6” skillet in the toaster oven last night. I feel like I have discovered a new plane of existence.
Yes, I know, French, but going through this door makes me feel like a broad in a 1930s gangster movie
We went to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts today and I spent a long time staring at this painting. Something in the younger girl’s eyes brought tears to mine. William Bouguereau, Crown of Flowers, 1884.
This is the best time of year. Everything is coming back to life, full of hope and possibilities
A local red-bellied woodpecker wasted no time figuring out that the backyard bird feeder is full again. (Yes, its belly is white and its head is hot pink. I don’t name them.)
We were lucky enough to watch the last space shuttle launch from the headquarters of the Canadian Space Agency near Montreal in 2011. MizC got to meet Jeremy Hansen, who is headed toward the moon today. THE MOON #artemisII
37 years ago today. Happy birthday, Mike. I was so thrilled to give you Oinking Piggy. You made me feel safe and took me in for a week when I had nowhere else to go. I miss you.
The amount of help I get from this cat when I’m trying to cut fabric for a quilt.
I bought books for the first time in ages. The delivery showed up just now and I cried because it’s so validating to have physical proof that other people take what I’ve been going through seriously, and to see my next career becoming more real.

Made some quilt yesterday. Making more today. This is a kit I’ve had lying around for years but now a (great!) thing has happened for someone I care about that let my quilting muse burst out of hibernation and get to work.
God help me and my sister. This is the urn we chose for our father (he appreciated tacky)
Looking for tile for the little bathroom I'm trying to renovate. Found this (cheap!) but D vetoed it because he would stay in there way too long staring at the floor looking for patterns. I might as well just hang a sign on the door that says "AUTISTIC PEOPLE LIVE HERE."
I went out to buy cat food for Leonard, aka Mr. Guy, aka Himself, aka That Little Asshole. Prescription food @ $120/bag or he gets stick thin and leaves bloody feces everywhere. He’s why we can’t have indoor plants. Gets attention by knocking glass bottles onto the floor. Jerk. I love him so much.
Keeping the goals very modest these days as I recover from being rolled repeatedly through one of these.
The vanity that we have bought for me to refinish. I have never refinished furniture before and I don’t know where I’m going to sand and stain it, because we live in a condo and my current mental state precludes going onto the balcony. But a new look in the bathroom is something to look forward to.
