Funny story: while waiting to be triaged I realized that I was in a Chicago emergency room, just like on the show ER, which I watched religiously for the first 6 or so seasons. I even had an ER t-shirt 😆

One of the biggest problems with this index on Ancestry is that the forename field is truncated. Here's the original baptism record for Anne Marie Engel Louise Lilienkamp b1789 showing her full name. She went by Louise, but the indexed version of the record leaves this out completely #genealogy
My #genealogy tip of the day is to not rely solely on an indexed record especially when it comes to indexed German church records on Ancestry as they are missing valuable information. You have to see the original record, which at this point is only available on Archion.de.

#genealogy #FamilyHistory tip: Search on a female ancestor's married name in FamilySearch full-text search. You might find her mentioned in a relative's will. I was able to find a female ancestor's maiden name this way, mentioned in her father's will (her marriage record is lost/missing).
#ancestryhour #genealogy Over the past few days I've been looking up various 1C3Rs and 1C4Rs in the recently released 1926 Ireland Census. Now I have a few more pieces of the puzzle for my East Cork Cronins and Brodericks including an unexpected detour to Welsh coal country.
So I pulled up a bunch of Catholic parish books from that region on Matricula (it's free!) and just digitally thumbed through them. I wasn't finding anything but I did see the Triebswetter name mentioned a few times so I stayed hopeful. And then bam! There she was (2nd line) #AncestryHour

Currently recovering from our trip to Japan, which was jam-packed with activities including kimono rental, tea ceremony, kaiseki lunch, ramen tasting tour, listening bars, lots of walking, and a trip to Shirakawa-go. We are really missing the Japanese service, hospitality, and infrastructure.

Tudor Halloween. Lookin' like we stepped out of a Hans Holbein painting. We received many compliments on our costumes.
This ancestor died in an accidental fall from his wagon in 1863. Contributing factors: whiskey and a toothache. (The Buffalo papers ran a few different versions of this story, but in each one they made sure to point out that he was German.) #GenHour #Genealogy

The hubby and I saw Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band last night at The Chicago Theatre. Had no clue Colin Hay or Steve Lukather were in the band. 'Twas very exciting to hear Men at Work and Toto hits along with Ringo's. Ringo is 85 and still going strong!!
Back from a week in the U.P. (Michigan). The highlights were Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. The water was so clear up there. Had some nice short hikes too.
